Heliocon Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Ok so in the Yak 1 we have an engine RPM modifier, but is it prop pitch? It doesn't seem so because when I turn down RPMs it also decreases manifold pressure. What is the purpose of this?
Elanus Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Yak 1 has a constant speed propeler. It tries to mantain the RPM you set wit RPM (or prop pitch) lever that ist located next to throttle by automaticly adjusting propeler pitch (autochat displays Prop pitch % AFAIK).

Yes but then when you lower RPM it should be increasing prop pitch resulting in an increase in manifold pressure, but the opposite happens...
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 2, 2014 1CGS Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Truth be told, you don't need to really worry about adjusting prop RPM in the Yaks - just set it to the max and then never touch it again. This is what real Yak pilots did, according to at least one interview at http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com Edited November 2, 2014 by LukeFF
