Gday all, i am looking at buying rudder pedals in a couple of months. I checked out the Saitek Pro Flight and the Pro Combat,  they are with in my budget atm. I haven't got alot of experience with flight sims only really dabled here and there with them. How do these pedals perform and are they worth buying ? I currently have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick which i will be upgrading to something better not long after i buy some pedals, will these pedals be ok for this stick for the time being ? Thanks in advance for any advice.

For today "sim's" any USB rudder pedal work with any josytick/HOTAS. The fact of your 3D PRO have twist rudder is no mater, just reassign axis in game (and you can use this twist for trim for example).

These offered by Saitek use the same base with different foot rest, metal on Combat, this model (and Cesna one) allow you pilot with your heel rested on floor which may be more comfortable using office chair.

They major "drawback" is to continue using a "XX century" technology: potentiometers, that one day will wear.  :)

S!

DIY! Look my sig ;)

Took a trip to the hardware and electronic stores, and some 3h in assembly :) .. Wood and metal parts something like 5€, Hall sensor 2€, neodymium magnet 1€, gameport connector 1€. I used RCA cables meant for stereo signal as wiring, practically free too.

I have it connected to my TM Cougar (it has a gameport for rudder pedals) so I can utilize its software for settings.

I have the Saitek Pro Flight ones since they came out and they still work like charm (I don't fly every day though). They slide a bit on carpet so you would probably need something to prevent that.

However if you don't have a TrackIR or something similar already (or consider the Oculus rift). I would get that instead of the rudder pedals, bigger immersion win.

Gday Yellowsub, i will eventually be getting the Oculus Rift just going to slowly set myself up due to finances. Want to get used to the pedals first before the game is released :)

I think you will be pleased, I go the Saitek Combat Pedals in the spring of '12 - same time as I got the Warthog - and have been very pleased with them. I use them extensively in ROF and now that I have the response set to about where I like it best, find it very smooth.

Either one of the Saiteks are worth it.. I have the Pro Flight ones.. and I think they are better than the CH products. In fact I think the Saitek products are not as inferior as many people think. I also highly recommend you get either a Track IR or a FreeTrack ... I use a Track IR 4 .. but I have heard good things about Free Track.... I never used it though.

Had the CH Pedals but stopped working. Never liked them, too close together and cant move your feet.Noisy

Got the Saitek Combat Pedals, Very nice, High quality, metal pedals and wider apart. Can also move you feet around when tired.

I love the CH stuff and have the combatstick, pro throttle, and pro pedals - but the foot spacing is something that many have complained about over the years.

I did the same. I used CH pedals for years and tolerated them. When I could buy the Saitek Pros, I jumped on them.

There's also a "mod" to remove the detent on the X52s. I have the pro, but these instructions are for both models.

Makes it a little smoother from left to right.
