Petrosky Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 With all thats been said since release i just had to add that this is a very good sim, sure it need a few things worked out but wow!! this makes me glad that i came back to flight sims. And to all that are still having problems with crashes of the sim, if you search these forums a little there are many regulars here that will help and have probably already posted the fix . Thanks to all that try and help others here. Petrosky
vonPilsner Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I couldn't agree more, I've been having much fun with BoS.
Finkeren Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 This is the best WW2 CFS ever in the making. Emphasis on "in the making", we're not there yet. 1
Y-29.Silky Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 This is the best WW2 CFS ever in the making. Emphasis on "in the making", we're not there yet. "In the making", yet it's still on top of everyone else, that's what I love the most. Of course, they made the "official release" a little too early IMHO, but even when they were at 60%, I felt they were above the rest. A good game comes to the simplicity, which in flight sims, translates to good flight models, damage models, and good immersion (and good scenery). I honestly feel the future of this game is going to be ground breaking, so as long as the developers don't get too hungry with the money, and stick with the passion of flight.
Finkeren Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I disagree Silky. To me IL-2 1946 (in its fully modded form with all the 3rd party bells and whistles) is still the ultimate flight sim, by virtue of its career mode(s), campaigns and astounding amount of content. Despite the dated graphics, cheating AI, simplistic FM, DM and CEM etc, there's still so much to that sim I have notyet seen and done after 13 years. That being said, looking at the sim experience itself, there is currently no topping BoS, regardless if DCS is more detailed and ClOD has 100 player servers. The future looks bright. Let's hope the devs have the economy and endurance to keep going for the next decade. 2

Sure they will look better or sound better or fl;y better.. but feature for feature and placed in perrspective IL2 in it's current state is the best WWII CFS ever made.. If you go full tilt with mods etc.. it has absolutely no equal.. You can go from WWi to Viet Nam all on one platform. BoS is IMO the closest contender partly because it has full developer support but also because there is so much in this sim that it is easy to overllook. .
