I was getting this earlier then someone posted to say, try and stop your D/L and start again, do this a few times then speed should go back up to decent amount. I only stopped/started 3 times and all went well.

Yeah, Its bloody disgraceful. You give em a hundred bucks then wait 3 days to download at 100 megabytes an hour. Tried the stop start several times and did nothin'. Welcome to NZ and Russia Nov 2003

Try Settings and tick prefer web distribution.

 

Restart the launcher.

This game download is a joke! I'm on a 200MB/s fiber connection and it still takes forever, so I set the computer to never go to sleep or hibernate and let if run all weekend. When I left it was at 5Gb of 10Gb. Now that I got back to check it......it filled up 20Gb of disk storage and as soon as you launch it is now installing another 11Gb at a ridiculous speed of 450KB/s. This is on a Monday and I started the install on a Friday morning and it finished over the weekend to only take up a ton of drive space and is still useless.

 

Forget it......I'm done with this joke of a game.

I feel your pain...  I'm on a 75mbps service, and I'm getting between 500kbps and 2.5mbps.  Worlds better than the OP, but still pathetic.

 

I called my service provider, but they just say that the signal is good, and that's that.  I've had unimpressive speeds for years.  At best 2.7mbps.  I could never understand how you have a service that has a fast speed (and tests just fine on sites like speedtest)... yet when you apply it to any realworld app (ex. FTP), you get 2mbps.  I could see having a 10mbps reduction (for cable service, as it is affected by the number of users and stuff), but to get such a tiny percentage of what you are supposedly paying for is really baffling.  Maybe there's some explanation, but I have yet to have someone provide it.  There was really no point in me upgrading from 25mbps to 75mbps, as the speed is the same (but the price is more, and the monthly bandwidth is half of what I had before).  I don't get it.

 

Anyway, I was surprised to see this post, as I assumed it was a provider thing, but maybe the IL-2 servers are the culprit (partially or fully).  Ya, a tad disappointing when I bought the sim tonight, set it to download, and came back 1/2 hour later, only to find the progress bar only slightly increased.  It's now a few hours later, and I'm about half way through.

 

Can you actually stop the download and resume?  Normally, I'd assume you can, but the interface doesn't seem to indicate anything like that.  There's no Stop button, so it seems like you'd be doing a 'dirty' stop, which I wasn't sure I could assume would be able to be cleanly resumed.  I'd certainly be tempted to restart (stop and then resume) the download, just to see if I 'catch' a better download speed.

 

I wasn't sure what that 'Prefer Web Distribution' setting was (...a tooltip would have been lovely...), but it's checked by default, so I GUESS there's nothing more I can do to improve things.  Still nervous about stopping it.  It's holding me back from doing anything else, though.

 

I have to say, though...  Normally, I would have bought it from Steam, but for this, I was (eventually) convinced into buying it direct (...support the team and all that).  But, I'm not feeling as good about that now, as I'm sure the Steam download would have bee done well within an hour.

 

Man, I hope this thing actually runs well on my system... that would be icing on the cake if it wouldn't....

 

(Ugh, it just dipped down to 390kbps....  But, better than 0.02kb, I suppose...)  ?
