S!

Mondog. Been on IL-2 since it's first ever BETA, so please take that attitude elsewhere ;) And no, not a "hater"..SIGH! BoS is GOOD, but would be better with some EXTRA features and fixes.

The GOOD:

Graphics

Sounds

FM

DM

AI

GUI / Controls

AQMB / QMB

Nothing of that is better than "good" yet (except perhaps the SP missions, which i have not tried all yet, but those that i've played are very good to excellent), everywhere is room for improvement. But the foundation is there and working that's what's important for me at the current stage. Now i hope that it turns profitable and that there'll be enough founds for future additions and for working on BoS for a long time.

I'm sure some of these haters would have exploded under there own self entitlement had they experience IL2 or IL2:FB at launch. BOS is night and day compared with those two titles when they first came out.

Really have to stop putting people in the "fanboy/hater" bracket. Anyway mondog what do you like about the game?

One great point of the game is;

I have in the campaign downed 35 planes mainly bombers and I have the feeling that I did see 35 different ways to go down for this planes! ;)

people keep treating me like the BOS hating child of Satan simply because I want to get obvious problems looked at, if I hated it I wouldn't be here short of $100 and trying to get things sorted.

you really don't miss that hundie do you? its not like a hundie = to about $20.00 buck now any way.

Yeah, found the answer but to be honest I thought you were rednecking the name Hyundai.

Guys....shhhh! the Borg will be here soon to 'moderate' us.

Don't think I've ever been moderated. I'm such a square.

will you shut up?
if you want stuff looked at, start a ranting thread.

stop pissing on a thread that points out something positive.
eat your negativity, leave those that like the sim alone.

how about that for directness...

FFS...

is this the new Ubizoo?
come on!

Besides the good things that have been mentioned, I like how things get harder as you progress in pilot level in the campaign.

And the map is gorgeous and so well represented in game, that it makes navigation a joy.

The Good...

How about the fact that some dedicated people are working (and still working) on a WWII sim?

How often does that happen?

The feeling of flight is superb.

The campaign is coming long nicely and we're getting improvements and tweaks

almost constantly.

Also the Stuka, the La-5 - the HE-111...the Yak! Good stuff.

I can't ask anything more at this point.

Whatever the flaws in this game, and there are a few, I never get tired of the sensation of flying.

The moment that loading screen stops and I hit "start", all those niggles fade away.

I don't care about unlocks, careers, XP, the Eagle's Nest drama (which would make a nice TV series?).

All of that falls away and I'm left with a brilliant game.

I happened across this while looking for my long-neglected After Action Report thread.

Anyway, one thing I like about this game is:

-last night while flying around in my trusty LaGG (I really do like that plane) I just had to jump out of the pit to admire the sky. There's one version of sky that has rather odd-looking lines in it but the one I had yesterday was full of beautiful representations of high alt cirrus.

Nobody really misjudges the positive and outstanding feautures of BoS, it's just not worth calling them out every time:

"Hey guys, I noticed the Bf109 has strange elevator behaviour, pls look at it. Apart from that this sim is fantastic, great graphics and the best physics I've ever seen since..."

Those of us flying BoS for longer time now praised it already and focus on detecting issues to help devs to improve it. It's not a sign of hate, it's a sign of devotion and commitment.

Critics are driving improvements, improvements are driving development, driving development mean BoS can extend further and gather more people. In theory improvements without critics could hardly happen.

Now back to the topic, personally I still enjoy BoS very much. I've mentioned the unmatched feeling of flight several times now (so did others) and it still holds this record. The obvious issues are not less neglectable due to the good aspects though, means MP performance optimization, SP/Unlock system and FMs are the main issues to me. If we include the comunity interactions with the devs / managers during the last 3 weeks we get to another point which keeps me bothering about BoS's future, but I don't want to beat a dead horse.

Another thing, pointing out "good things" by comparing BoS to other games is not really leading anywhere. If BoS wasn't better than the compared sims/games we weren't probably here talking about it and it's surely meant to be superiour to other titels in order to catch their customers. It doesn't really add anything special to it.
