Deep Snow and wheeled Airplanes DO NOT MIX.

Seriously, far too many people take impossible shortcuts on takeoff and do non-belly landings through some of the deepest snow and muck. Just to underlin what I'm talking about.

and part 2:

and more:

And let me google some more landings gone wrong in deep snow: https://www.google.nl/search?q=snow+roll+over&client=firefox-a&hs=6AQ&rls=org.mozilla:de:official&channel=sb&biw=1920&bih=945&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=iWpPVJKSD8iWasPngNgK&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#rls=org.mozilla:de:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&q=snow+airplane+crash

should be altered in game

cross takeoff over a snowy field shouldn't be possible

I've wondered the same thing. Runways could be closed or take off delayed, waiting for snow removal. Could be an interesting twist for a campaign or online mission.

Thx for the Support.

Yeah, I kinda agree. I tend to take off on the snow when I'm in a hurry, or don't know where the runway is in MP. Would probably help to at least make it problematic.

Emergency landing on snow is a bit fun though. How hard would be realistic? Nearly impossible? Or just hard?

PS: I remember something about the Norwegian Glosters used during the invasion in 1940 being tried out with skis.

Does anyone know if any two winged fighters ever used skis?

I know some IL2s had skis.

It depends on the kind of Landing gear you have. Fixed gear airplanes and those that have a DC-3 kinda like Landing Gears:

S!

Agree. There is like 10cm of snow everywhere on the map? I would believe around Stalingrad it was more like 1m of snow or even more. Reading the momoirs also tells the pilots had to land more carefully to stay on the plowed area.

Snow should have more effect than it has now, agreed. You should be able to taxi over snow covered areas between taxi area and runway, but outside the aerodromes snow should indeed have more effect yes.

Basically deep snow stops you rather effieciently (as seen above) while shallow one tends to be rather compressed and extremely slippery.

Definitly. If you were taking off in a plane loaded with fuel and bombs would you skip using the runway?
