Heywooood Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) For anyone who wasn't ready to believe it would - the latest update to Rise of Flight tremendoulsy improved (shortened) load time... from both the initial startup to the campaign or mission load - both take less than half the time they used to before the update. it is a huge improvement - (the update notes credit BoS development) Cant wait to see what else BoS development will bring to RoF If you ask me - this could end up like we were getting two new sims in one... Thank you 777 and 1CGS NeoQb et al Edited September 3, 2013 by Heywooood 1
dburne Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Agreed, though I really only see it in the launching of ROF - get to the main screen much , much quicker. Mission load times, for me at least, seem about the same - flying in the beta career...

The quick missions are very quick. No pun intended.

1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Same, missions still take awhile to load - but a definitely major fix to the loading of the game! Same here.
Heywooood Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) I guess I typically do the quick missions too - but I have ballons, artillery, vehicles enabled and generally have 2 flights of 3-5 aircraft per side...anywhere from 12-20 planes and it loads much faster than before I just assumed the campaigns would be the same...now I gotta check for myself either way - its a vast improvement Edited September 4, 2013 by Heywooood
ImPeRaToR Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Ironically with an SSD, the improvements are only minor but if you have ROF on a HDD it is a huge improvement indeed. Sadly they did not even tell us beta testers what they changed, maybe it's just magic
VeryOldMan Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 PRobably just preemptively loading some resources and keep them in memory as long as the rig has the memory to spare..
ImPeRaToR Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 In that case the initial load to the main menu should be even longer, not shorter
Matt Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I only noticed a shorter load time to the login screen but that was pretty much it. Mission editor and quick missions loaded the same for me (didn't try career or MP). Still an improvement overall though. But after i moved RoF to my SSD, loading times are no problem anymore.
steppenwolf Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Load time to main ROF login screen takes only seconds now after the recent update! Even with ROF on SSD, before the update, the game took maybe a minute or so to load. Vast improvement, keep it up!!
VeryOldMan Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 In that case the initial load to the main menu should be even longer, not shorter Do not underestiamte all our workign class of game developers. Threads and parallel loading exists for a reason.
reddog=11blueleader* Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Faster load times all the way round for me. Like!!
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 S! Seems I have to give RoF a spin again
