II./JG27_Rich Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Next time on a Live Stream Video could we see the in cockpit map? I've seen it on a "cam" video but it would be nice to see a monitor rez video of it.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 In cockpit map? Can you post a link to the vid? Im only aware of the RoF style map. That would be really neat to see it in the pit.

Jason_Williams Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The in-game map is not anywhere near ready. Just a placeholder at the moment. Jason

Finkeren Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The in-game map is not anywhere near ready. Just a placeholder at the moment. Jason Can I just say, that even though it's a placeholder, I really like the authentic look of it.
RAF74_Winger Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Can I just say, that even though it's a placeholder, I really like the authentic look of it. I quite like the look of it myself. Something to be said for using period maps (if that's what it is) to add a sense of time and place to the game. The mission icons would need to have a pencil-drawn look to them so they fitted in, but I can't imagine that would be beyond the realms of possibility. I suspect the real difficulty is getting hold of maps of the relevant era which are suitable for reproduction. W.

However, I'm not sure it would be that difficult to get a hold of a contemporary military map of the area. There were a lot of them made after all. Just a quick Google search brought up this fine example of a 1941 Soviet map (originally 1937 but updated) It doesn't have to be 100% authentic (that being a 1942/43 standard issue Luftwaffe/VVS flight map) An authentic looking example like the one above will be fine.
