Please tone down the effectivness of AAA !!

As the title says...

AAA is simply too accurate.

It becomes almost suicidal to levelbomb airfields in the HE-111

Fly higher than what the mission tells you. For some reason BoS wants Germans to bomb every target from like 2.5-3km while Pe-2's can be as high as 5-6km. No wonder why the AAA tears you apart.

He-111 we did do it at 6000m. We returned with only 1 damaged bomber. Precision wasn't great but mission was a successful one.

Also a wing of Stukas dove to support the panzers attacking an enemy AF. We lost 50% to flak.

Yes, AAA is dangerous, as it should be.

Pease dont! The flak is good as it is now :-)

I call it Phalanx AAA. As when you enter the "engagement range" of it, they track you even without visuals. Even in pitch dark they see you and through clouds. Tracking and traverse speeds could use some tweaking as well as rate of fire, especially on heavy flak. They can pump out shells at high rate all day long, real terminators those AAA crews :P Otherwise yes, it is pretty well done.

What altitude were you at?

How many aircraft were with you?

What were the weather conditions?

What "pilot level" are you? To keep things interesting for more experienced players yet unintimdating for new ones, I believe there are differences in the missions. I don't know whether there's more flak or just if it's more accurate.

AAA is fine now (was far too accurate earlier in development) but level bombers need to be set to fly higher than the 2 - 3000m they do now. They're far too exposed at that altitude.

At low level AAA in campaign might actually be a bit too harmless. I'm mostly flying IL-2s and I'm now in the 5th chapter, where the Flak should be at its most dangerous, and I still hardly ever get hit at all and haven't been shot down by AAA since chapter 3.

Just avoid airfields as they are usually heavy infested with flak.If you need to hit one due to mission goal - fly fast from dive, drop bombs and fly away zigzaging.Do not turn and stay over it.Those are basic rules.Flak is OK as it is now, maybe sometimes cheating as Flanker suggested.I have flown like 25 campaign missions and yet I was not shot down by flak.Damaged yes, several times, mainly due to breaking the basic rules.

I was flying in QMB without any wingmen at 2000 meter, so that might very well have been the culprit.

Thx for helping.

I was referring to fighter/attack plane tactics. If you fly dedicated bomber, higher you fly,the better,of course :salute:

Flying alone is a factor that by itself greatly Increases your risk of getting hit, since the AAA indiscriminately fires upon lone aircraft and formations alike.

2000m is a dangerous altitude, since every single type of ack ack is effective at that altitude.

Flak "safe" altitude is above 3.500 meters.

Below that you will be within low caliber automatic AAA range and will be hit for sure.

It's really hard to hit small targets with even on laser calculated aaa. I get a little bit feeling that aaa in the game is a bit too accurate. But I like the fact you can sneak on them without noticing.

I like the volume of AAA.  I think it's a little bit too accurate and definitely shoots brilliantly through clouds/night etc.  I like that it's very dangerous to strafe a field at any low level, but as a single fighter/bomber at 4-6K altitude it's pretty darn accurate in shooting you down.

something i would do in the past is join an empty server and get rid of the blue aaa

then someone would join blue and i would camp around his airport ;)

Pretty sure what you describe here is commonly known as vulching or being a bad sport......

And on the topic of AAA I have found it to be fairly accurate, however as said above if you are flying below 3500m it is gonna hit you more easily. Above that I don't normally get hit very often, althorn it does happen sometimes.
