LLv34_Flanker Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 S! BoS has neither of the brands' label on it yet and I hope it stays that way. There is no need for propertiary features to be implemented in BoS with it's already borderline niché status. That tech could be good for a FPS game, but a flight sim? Just a gimmick as those precious resources can be used to something that really improves the sim rather than shuts out players and puts them in a situation where certain things are out of reach because a brand chooses to make it propertiary, be it AMD or nVidia.
FuriousMeow Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) Seriously Flanker? It doesn't matter if it is AMD or nVidia, that tech right there isn't worth anything for any flight sim. It's not applicable. That's like having a bouncy booby physx model from Dead or Alive, doesn't even work with that stupid game but wouldn't work at all in a game that was about football (the European version). The more important factor is that you fully supported Mantle, which has been shown to be an AMD proprietary API, and FreeSync, which has been proven to be an AMD supported feature only - and not because nVidia refuses it but because it is AMD's technology. So bascially the brand doesn't matter, unless it is your brand. Sort of like them there 109s only, even though the FAF operated tons of Russian aircraft. Edited October 25, 2014 by FuriousMeow
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 S! Take a chill pill and stroke that pussycat of yours, sun will come up today again
FuriousMeow Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) The sun always comes up, and my pussy cats shall be stroked because they are adorable and actually very intelligent. They actually retreive toys to me to keep playing, and they will ensure I know that the toys have been returned because they will stomp, bat or even make bizarre mews at me. I don't need to chill, this game/sim/whatever you want to call it is f'ing awesome and the best out there. But there is no reason to go for one side or the othe as far as tech goes. AMD does well, and so does nVidia, and this tech in the original does nothing for anyone. If this was ArmAIII- yes, it would make sense. There is no infantry POV or armored POV, so this tech is pointless. So it makes no sense to get all worked up over AMD or nVidia, this stuff just doesn't belong here yet. Not until we have infantry or armored units controllable by players. Edited October 25, 2014 by FuriousMeow
69th_chuter Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Actually, I think Turf versus Mantle are apples and oranges. Implementation of Mantle wouldn't deny Intel users of anything while the implementation of Turf would deny AMD users of the complete on screen experience. But, I agree that IL2 BoS isn't golf and wouldn't have a use for Turf, anyway. (Far Cry 3 sure could use it, tho. I'm always losing stuff in the totally unresponsive grass.) ... and what's this implication that American football could benefit from bouncing boobie physics? Huh?!?
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 S! Cheerleader Simulator 2015. Now with nVidia's BouncyBoobs technology! See them jugs bouncing like never before. 1

siipperi Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 When BoS is DX11 why not..... Cheers Dakpilot Exactly.
JG27_Chivas Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 OK, I forgot about the sim being DX9. You'd have thought DX11 might have been a higher priority if they plan to continue development of a few new theaters over the next ten years. That said, I suppose they could have more time to make DX11 a higher priority now that they have the first installment out the door.
steppenwolf Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 This could be something worth looking into....NVIDIA TurfEffects..... https://developer.nvidia.com/turfeffects Good find! I think in ten years this kind of environmental physic will be quite common. Can't wait!
