don't know how I missed it but there have been some screenshots of the Nevada map using EDGE released in an update, I must say it looks pretty damned  good, interesting note in the last post is that maps can be as large as we want.

For some reason I cant link a pic? I'm not allowed to use a link for a .jpeg?

Well this is a 2nd chance for Luthier. If he fails this time, I don`t think anyone will be willing to list his name in the credits anytime soon.

Not really Mac. His first was Pacific Fighters, and I don't hear anyone complaining about the Pacific content in what we now know as IL2 1946, such as carriers, folding wings, arrestor hooks. You know, all that sailor stuff. The second chance was the game which should not be mentioned, which was released far too early, as we can now realise through the efforts of Team Fusion. The early release wasn't forced upon us by Luthier, but others whom we know not. The third is yet to come.

We shall see. :salute:

Do people confuse the tag Luthier for Lucifer or something?

Probably no more than they do bongodriver for Beelzebub. ;)

I think a lot of people will live and let live where Luthier is concerned. I thought his last couple of updates were good. They sold me. I liked what he said in his thank you to all who supported the Kickstarter. He seemed very sincere.

Well ive drawn a pretty bold line under the past and Luthier gets a clean slate from me, i will only judge him on what happens from now on and only with DCS44.

I dam well want him and DCS44 to succeed, if it does we all win.

I have space on my HD for as many good ww2 flight sims as can be developed.

One thing about DCS that I don't like is the lack of community involvement.. Shortly after I came to IL2 I discovered IL2 stab.. Sturmolog.. the DCG ... IL2 Manager ... and a host of other things created by community members.. I hope that happens in DCS.

There are already  a lot of community tools for DCS, like the Easy Monitor Configurator, TARS, dcs-tools, iPad Apps like iControl or iWarthog, and so on..

I wouldn't worry too much about thsi :D

Nice update on the DCS boards showing a Tiger model, superb detail.

Nice update on the DCS boards showing a Tiger model, superb detail.

Personally I like what Luthier said the most:

"Hello folks,

I think we're going to do two development updates per week.

Fridays will be our 3D development updates: planes, cockpits, vehicles, and so on.

Tuesdays will be our landscape development updates where we'll be looking at our Normandy as it takes shape.

We have a lot of stuff you haven't seen yet, especially in the 3D category, so hopefully these won't get boring or stale for a while."

2 updates a week. Great! :)

But on the other hand the devil in me whispers in my left ear: I think we're going to do et cetera.

We will see...

I hear you, but Luthier would be lynched if he made a firm promise and missed one.

Will you be selecting the cuddly toy or the Teasmade, Smurfy?

No, not yet. Luthier said it would be a little while before those emails were sent out. Nothing to worry about.

I`ll be having the DCS willy warmer and bobble hat mate, it`s getting cold in Blighty.

With detail like that Tiger has I wonder  what scale of online mission will be playable on good to very good PCs, ie 32 v 32,  16 v 16 with ground targets, say Falaise gap style, loads of tanks and trucks to strafe etc etc.

As long as you hit the ground right under the Tiger, you'll be doing fine, because the bullets will ricochet and all that. No worries.

:P

And first i thought the Tiger was useless, but then it might be fun hunting those with P-47 with rockets.

Does anyone know how well facetrack and Free track work in DCS? I have understood that TrackIR is supported and works well enough. It's just that I have few friends who prefer free track, and to them it might be a problem if they are not able to use it. I really don't know anything about the subject...

Only way to do that will be from the rear coming in as low as possible to limit deflection and even then probably between gun tower and body?
Or haven't you ever seen "Kelly's heroes" :tease:

A bit confused here, but will DCS WWII be a module of DCS world, like some already pretended it sure would, or end as a stand alone?
In his comment of 10/10 Ilya proposes a future discussion over adding the other new DCS WWII planes into DCS World for funding the flyable B-17 instead of only making those available for the kickstarters and having to resort to extra pledge drive?
Also if it adds up to DCS world there already will be the Mustang and the Focke-Wulf FW.190D-9  modules, that is if one bought them and why the Q.
Anybody of you knows something for sure about this?

He also puts in question existing or should I call it non-existing MP and the complete absence of funding for improving it.

Earlier need to improve DM has been raised.

Ok, I saw the positive and courageous attitude from the community for future map making with the release of the SDK but there sure are limits for what they can be counted on.

The last thing I want is doom preaching and I kicked in 60 USD there but I sure am glad to be BOS founder ...

I think DCS:WWII wil be something similar to DCS:World, it's modules being WWII theatres...

Upped my pledge so I can get get something that I can hold, touch not entirely just consist of pixels.

DCS WWII will have it's own exe and it's own GUI. It will not be part of DCS WORLD but the modules will compatible.

OK I know, it's a bit confusing, but it's DCS :)

That's what i also come to believe thou a lot of previous comments on KS said contrary.

Ilya never gave any explanation but his latest proposition for discution to make modules of all new WWII planes available in DCS World to help funding the B17 would be odd when WWII would also end up in it. Also he describes WWII as the whole bol of wax on its own.

Confusing for sure.

Landscape looks pretty good for so early in development.

Not too impressed TBH...

But we'll see.

ouch no update?

Silence over there...

No Friday update, no Tuesday update.

Probably busy, they have a small budget like BoS but have a bigger task to complete with less people, best to look at it as on some Tuesdays and Fridays there will be some updates, it is the exception rather than the rule that any developers make regular updates, 777 is the only one I can think of.

Posted (edited)

I would agree Bongo, i think Luthier was being a bit optimistic this early in development for updates of any real value that regularly.

At the moment i would think a update every 2 or 3 weeks or so would be a better idea and have more impact.

I would guess he is still very busy with pledges, rewards and behind the scenes stuff, give him a month or so and things should settle down.
