just letting people know that there is no "FREE" alternative to TrackIR. now it costs two bucks :(

Wow. That's like $2.27 where I live.

sorry i mean CL-EYE now costs 2 bucks not freetrack (IDK how to edit OP)

i still bought it, but for people who use freetrack dont buy a ps3 EYE CAM for a webcam unless you are willing two pay 2 bucks for the driver (and have paypal or a credit card)

Does anyone know another cheap, high-framerate webcam similar to the PS3 Eye?

It'll probably cost you over 2$ more than a used PS3 eye. There's a large supply of used PS3 Eyes on ebay or in phyiscal stores like gamestop.

Calvamos is right, the only reason to not buy the driver would be that you dont have access to an online payment method (creditcard/paypal)

I actually have a PS3 Eye ($10 from a used games store - Gamestop in fact), but the trouble with them is that it's hard to tell if you're getting the "good" version which has an easily removable IR filter, especially when buying online.

The real question is whether or not another camera costs twice (or more) as much as a PS3 Eye, since you might end up with the "bad" version. It's moot if you can find one at a physical store, of course.

I find it a bit disheartening that people aren't willing to pay for the work of the CL-Eye guys at that kind of price...

I suppose TrackIR is "over-priced" for the amount of work, programming and research that has gone in to their product as well.

It is dirt cheap, couple of dollars.
