Wingmen crashed after take-off, and I had to proceed alone and intercept those bombers... alone... Obviously the bombers have escorts... Dakpilot Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Nice example of how the damage model takes time to register what you did on the 'eventful' T/Off strange to think of the amount of hours I have spent in original IL-2 missions/linear/Dgen/DCG and never once considered that I was "grinding" lol...nowadays it seems to be uncool to even want to actually RTB without using autopilot and time compression Cheers Dakpilot 1
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Yes, you are correct. The DM didn't take time to register it just did register on time and eventually the pressure made them ailerons get loose finally. I saw too many times guys getting shot in the wings for example, making them structural weakened and then they try a high G turn and BAM! the wing gives up. About the mindset, well, being opposed to the unlocks system I refuse to let that "gamey stuff" to get in the way of my imagination so I try to make the best out of it and if I choose FULL length, it means that, FULL length, same as in IL-2 46, RoF, etc. A mission starts with a pre-flight check ( or it should :D ) and only ends with a safe return to base ( or one that you can walk away from ). So given this I tend to give myself time enough to fly without interfering with personal life, so no rush in getting the unlocks because so far i've yet to feel the need for them in MP. S! 2
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 After the LOD tests in MP went so great I kept the same configuration post nightly patch 1.004. Was most time very entertained looking at terrain in distance and trying to make out details and navigation points. Mindset was not even on the mission but eventually bumped into the enemy almost by accident ( after losing sight of them a few times while extending ). VVS - Soviet Air Force Single Player Campaign Full length - Expert settings Intercept Mission 1 kill 2 damages Plane destroyed. Saitek Flight System X52 Pro HOTAS + Combat Pro pedals Track IR 5 1
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) IL-2 Stalingrad Campaign #9 For this mission I decided that it was enough of interdiction sorties and that the HQ finally decided to order to bomb some stuff and that I was assigned as escort. We arrived in good formation, Peshkas went in and out with great accuracy and momentum. Flight back became more chaotic as we met the incoming target defender fighters and bumped into a enemy bomber formation with escort and a soviet squad poised on Interception. Was very confusing and entertaining. After this mission was completed the second chapter was unlocked ( is not shown in the video ). Now I am at a crossroads... should I stick with VVS and given my pilot is still alive and well carry on with his career ? Should I switch sides and show some Luftwaffe ? If I keep with the pilot career, should I change plane model ? Or should I roll a die ? for 1-2 same squadron, same plane, 3-4 same squadron, another plane, 5 another squadron same plane, 6 another squadron another plane ? =LD=Hethwill Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 OGON !!!! ( FIRE !!! ) The counter offensive is on. As per dice roll ( 4 ) I will go with same squad ( imagined ) but we have been re-equipped with new models. On the plus side I go through some of the game options, network, sound, visuals and controls in a carefree way but can be helpful for some less savvy new comers to BoS. 1
