Do we have the final release version?

The posts from the dev's tell us that it has been released and is available to buy and download.

If this is correct, is our current version exactly what the new buyers will get?

Are they compatible as they stand now, or do we have to wait to get an update? There was a vague mention of an update today earlier on this week.

Anyone actually know?

Honestly, in theory there is no FINAL version. This is the commercial release or some such euphemism. There is more original content coming (FMB/DSERV/etc) and I'm sure numerous bug fixes, tweaks and minor to significant content additions. Eventually there will be the next release. The game will hopefully be final around 2021 but then the Digital Nature II engine will debut and we will have a return to Stalingrad.

*here's hoping

**the only true statement here is "this is the commercial release version."

The current version is far from the finish version.

NO FMB, NO Server.

I really don't who is going to buy it.  It is just like running a console game on PC.

I flew one sortie again last night and that is exactly how it felt to me.  But I believe that is their intention. :(

v 1.002 is the release version!

Yes...  The FMB is just not ready yet. They never said there would be a FMB upon release just that eventually there would be one.

From the other forum:

"Work on additional software starts tomorrow.

Viewer for authors skins, Editor and Dedicated Server.
First you will likely get a server, and then the viewer and later the entire editor, will be updated and update the game for a long time. "

Purchase the sim, so does that mean I buy it and download it and have it on my computer or it this another Steam situation?

if you bought it through the devs website you don't have to go through steam

This is what I'd consider a "soft release" which we see more and more of today.  The game ends up about 90-95% done and receives updates for several months.  Pretty common.

The only hook here is that they stated they would re-do unlock status upon release, which doesn't seem to have happened on my game yet.

I think most of us have been involved with recent game development enough to know, that there is no such thing as a 'final' version.

So, this release version (which we have) has no sound track, (music to set the scene and get you into that 1940's mind set)

Although I guess that has been 'factored in' as well!

No but the mission loading screens are pretty and surprised me the first time I saw them.
