Zoring Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Epic news, my favourite old game, combined with my favourite new game and the best developers in the world 777 studios!
SpliceMainbrace Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Splendid news! Best of luck on this exciting new project.
Freycinet Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Good luck to the team and best wishes for your future cooperation! I was actually happy to have two separate teams (1C and 777 Studios) because that made for a bit of competition. But reality is, of course, that this genre is so narrow that it is probably best to pool resources. Some flight simming fans don't stop to consider that it is a niche genre and that the developers are very far from having unlimited time and resources. Everybody should remember that when they criticise various aspects. I hope these forums will be efficiently moderated, so haters and spammers won't stand in the way of a positive atmosphere and constructive rather than destructive criticism. I'm confident that's something the people behind this new endeavour have learned. Regarding Stalingrad. - This book is THE BEST history book about the battle: http://www.amazon.com/Enemy-Gates-Battle-Stalingrad-Tie-/dp/0142000000/ref=la_B001IXO04U_1_1_title_1_pap?ie=UTF8&qid=1355239557&sr=1-1 "Enemy at the Gates" by William Craig. It is NOT about the sniper duel, but about the whole battle. The sniper duel just takes up three pages of the book. If you haven't read about the Battle of Stalingrad then do yourself a favour and read this book (It is much better than Beevor's). Edited December 11, 2012 by Freycinet
Freycinet Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 +1 Cheers Heinkill, just want to say MANY thanks for your Redux campaign for CoD. Fab work.
jeepy Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 ~S~ 'n Good Luck ! Really looking fwd to this 1 I'll hang in here.. ;-)
BFsSmurfy Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I think this is the best result we could have hoped for, the genre continues and we have a guy in charge who listens, reports and doesn`t stick his head in the sand. Here`s to a great future, lets not ruin it by turning the forum into a battle-ground the minute something happens that doesn`t quite please everyone.
Guest deleted@750 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm gonna approach this one with caution. But... congratulations to 777 and Jason, hopefully you can do the series justice
Blitzen Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Absolutely wonderful news! You have made my day! You have had Santa Claus come early! I have been a big fan of what Studio777 did with RoF & have thought for a long time that 1C should copy 777's model & today it has happened:Hoooray! Please put me at the head of the line to buy Battle of Stalingrad when it premiers....It probably won't be perfect ( CloD certainly isn't) but with 777 helping it will eventually live up to its potential!
Pudfark Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 A good deal for everybody. Hard work and Good Luck ahead of you. I will be purchasing ROF for Xmas..... To support this endeavor and get some experience for what is to come. Thanks Everybody.
SCG_Neun Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm always glad to see a new sim emerging, especially on the Eastern Front. Best of luck guys.
Revvin Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Looking forward to the IL-2 series moving forward and on into the future!
Aioros Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Congratulations for this new partnership! great news for the community indeed...I wish you the best.
Jason_Williams Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Thanks everyone. We appreciate the well wishes. It is a crazy time and lots of work to do, but we are used to it. As Frey said let's keep it positive around here. Let's bring all IL-2 and ROF fans together and just have some fun flying and fighting in the virtual skies and not on the forum. Jason
StrIke Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) I wish you all the best luck!!! I enjoy IL-2 and ROF so much!! Both worlds are awesome, and have their own perks. I'll wait happily to see when you combine the best of both worlds!!! Great news!! Edit: This news totally requires a well deserved "Shut up and take my money" meme Edited December 11, 2012 by StrIke
priller26 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Awesome news and good luck! Im sure it will be a while before its out, however, something nice to look forward to done the road, and if its as good as ROF, then it should be a winner!
TX-Kingsnake Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Over a decade ago, when I got started with IL2, where all of this would go was beyond my imagination. Particularly that anyone would take something as trivial as flight simulating to glorified nerd-out geek heights. I had no idea how a game was about to effect the next decade of my life. If you told me then - that now I'd be wearing things on my head, isolated in my house and talking to people in the ethernet... I'm happy that independent simulator developers like Oleg and Jason made it big. Both of them started as small operations as start-up businesses where their traditional career paths could have been rather stale by comparison.
DD_fruitbat Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Good luck for the future, will be interesting....
hegykc Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Bringing together the two communities and the resources of two teams can only be a great thing. Truly a milestone for the sim community as a whole. So excited to be around to witness this great event. Future is looking very bright.
Ikarushin Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Congratulations to 777 and 1C. Excellent news for the combat flightsim community. Good luck! Kind regards, Ikarushin
JediMaster Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I hope this WWII sim is as strong 3 years later as ROF is today! Of course I'm assuming it's good, if for some reason we get a similar situation to CloD's release, we will not see it 3 years later.
3instein Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Yep good luck guys, looking forward to see what comes of this, another sim is always good news. Quote by Freycinet "I hope these forums will be efficiently moderated, so haters and spammers won't stand in the way of a positive atmosphere and constructive rather than destructive criticism. I'm confident that's something the people behind this new endeavor have learned." +100 to that. And hello to everyone. Mick.
mazex Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Yes - good luck 777 Studios and 1C managing the IL2 franchise!
LLv34_Flanker Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 S! Good luck 1C and 777 Studios for this new partnership. I hope it will be a good one and with the combined talents produce a sim that sets the bar very high. Good luck!
almg Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Good evening everybody, That new simulation is a GREAT NEWS for all WWII flights simulators gamers So when you can don't hesitate to show us screenshots! Then we can see your development...Alban
JG4_Bendwick Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 May the Force be with you! Much power, endurance, patience and luck for a never ending project! Best regards from the virtual Jagdgeschwader 4.
Avimimusold Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Yes, best of luck - may you be protected and shielded from the horrors of software complexity crises and crazed fans both.
Osram Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 All the best to all of the team, especially to Jason and Albert! As a coder, I do hope and think that the combined power spent on one flightsim engine will progress the genre.--- off topic: ----Funnily, I just reached a similar decision in my day job. For 18 years now I was employed to work on a fly-a-camera-through-a-kitchen engine ;-) but have now givven up on it and am quitting my job.Currently there are 3 major and several minor players in the German kitchenplanning industry, and that is simply too many and due to earning too little, our company has been forced to downsize for over 5 years now.
slm Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Haven't played ROF, but movies from it look good. So: good luck with BOS and I hope you'll pick a good plane set for it.
ImPeRaToR Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Excellent news, looking forward to all this
