SharpeXB Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 It would be a great feature in BoS for the player to be able to save a mission in progress and load it again. This used to be a feature of almost all PC games but currently I can't recall seeing it on any. Particularly for flight sims with long flights. I have X-Plane and I'm really surprised this feature isn't there either. How do people accomplish long airliner flights? Moving into WWII from WWI this becomes a major obstacle. WWI missions in RoF are simple and with some time acceleration can be accomplished within a workable time (to work around life's other distractions such as your marriage and career...etc) I really like the immersive full real missions like Desastersoft had for CoD but you need to set aside maybe 2 hours for those. A simple save/load feature would be great. 1
dburne Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I am with you on that one! I remember the day, I could save a race in my racing sim and come back to finish it later. Save a mission in progess to come back and finish it later. Would be really nice for some longer missions where time gets limited, often times unexpectedly.
leitmotiv Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Good idea, I never miss this in any flight sim game i played, but it's nice to have it for guys that don't have much time to play long missions all in one time. Maybe add post in suggestion section so devs notice it Edited September 1, 2013 by Yaklover
Rjel Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I'm not completely sure but I believe it was in Aces of the Pacific and Aces Over Europe you could re-enter a mission from the ingame recorder. I really enjoyed that feature. It would be a great help in refining tactics as the odds of seeing the exact same scenario develop in a sim is unlikeky.
OBT-Psycho Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 not mentionning the times you are in the heat of the battle and suddently...real life knocks at the door and you know there is so few possibility to recreate this atmosphere later on by attempting this mission again. It could surely be some great feature. I'm curios about the possibility of doing so with the planned offline campaing due to interactions needed with the "main server", but I am also sure some stuff could be figure out. you should put this in the "suggestion" forum, as this could be the easiest way to ring some bells in dev team

Yeah DCS has the ability to take control again from an in-game recording track. Which means the game has the ability to save a situation. So why not make it more user friendly and simply add that feature?
SharpeXB Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Not going to happen...Why not?I imagine the lack of this feature is a chief reason why it's hard to attract players to a realistic sim vs the arcade air shooter type game. Air spawning into shoot em up action vs taking off navigating to a target and returning. This would be a vital feature to make a sim game playable. I'm surprised it's so rare.

Cybermat47 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 You can just pause it though That's what I do.
OBT-Psycho Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 That's what I do. yep, of course you can pause, but there is times where pause isn't just enough and you need to do something else for a long time, leaving your computer on... anyway, this could be helpfull features in some points
Zak Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 A simple save/load feature would be great. Thanks for the suggestion, SharpeXB. What do you think about a poll about this issue? It's pretty much up to you, the pilots, to vote or not to vote about such option. Such suggestion will also be considered during first early access period when we'll ask you for some feedback
Dakpilot Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Poll please I cannot see the downside of a feature like this, sometimes life gets in the way! In SP career a save feature could be very useful for those unexpected moments It would be interesting to see how many people would be interested Cheers Dakpilot
=LD=Hethwill Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Would benefit many players and would not harm game play from anyone. Full positive note.
CheeseGromit Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I'd be interested in this as well. Real life time constraints are something that can limit what I get to play, being able to save and break long missions into smaller parts would be of benefit.
