Name changing, I know this has been asked before but hear me out!

Many people have asked if name change will be possible, and the only answer they seem to have gotten was that in time, our forum name will be used as our multiplayer name. Unfortunately for me, I signed up on the forums in a hurry and did a pretty bad typo, and even then, I would want a completely different call sign if I was flying in multiplayer. Right now I have my full real name as my multiplayer name, and this is also preventing me from playing.

I've been wanting to buy the Fw190, but I dont want to buy it on an account that I won't want to play online with because of all the horrible tags. Surely by now someone must have confirmed if we will get to change our forum names when this update happens? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, so sorry if that has been answered. 

I'm asking this because if nothing can be done, I would give this account to a friend who doesn't really care. I've been delaying buying the fw190 on this account for this reason, and I really want to fly it

I have the same problem here, and got a more or less personal info from Zak, they will change it with release and you and me and all the others will be informed right away....this keeps me from flying MP at the moment, and as I mentioned before...it was misleading during registration, so many others will have this problem as well for sure!

Yeah I'm a little bummed too. But I just have to wait and hope. I have my name as Erg./JG54_SPEKTRE because at the time I was just a recruit in JG54. When I made pilot I was in 9./JG54. I am not in a clan at the moment.

In a lot of games, like RoF (if I remember right) and DCS, you have stats for your pilots name, but your call sign is different. I know in DCS my profile is my real name, and my online name is a completely different one. Many people made the mistake of writing their real names, so it goes to show that this does happen in other games.

I don't think many made the mistake, I think a few did. There certainly would be much more of an outcry if many did.

 

I never entered my real name in RoF or DCS. I could enter a fake name for my pilot if I wanted to for the campaign in RoF, but that was separate from my profile name.

My problem was that I'd just purchased the game and had to provide my real name for the transaction and minutes later was asked again for my name at the start of the installation process. I presumed the two might be linked as I'd bought a pre-release version and/or that it was ONLY to refer to me during installation. Not once did the dialogue state 'Be careful because you can not change this and it will be used everywhere!'. I was VERY irritated to discover that my one shot string input could not be modified. Name me another game where the username is not editable? I can't name one and I had no probability of IL2-BOS being one!

Griever, it is possible to change your Account/Forum Username. It won't affect your Ingame name yet though!

 

Go to http://il2sturmovik.com and log in (the main website, not the forum log in!).

 

Klick on "Profile" and you'll see your Username which you can edit. Save the changes by clicking "update" and you should be good to go.
