Damage model surprise

Got into a QMB mission, myself and one wingie, in 190s vs. Random All.

Faced off against 3 IL2s. Overflew, then went ino the vertical to conduct a diving attack at their Six.

Lined one up at extreme range (500? 600 meters?) and let fly with a long, ammo-wasting burst. Hits! But nothing serious it seemed...........

As I overflew him a second time  I  went into the vertical again, vowing to get closer next time. My victim, seeing my maneuver, broke hard left to upset my firing solution. That is to say, he broke left - but the outboard half of his starboard wing, which I had apparently damaged with my crazy long range gunnery, broke off. It then began falling to earth. Then the part of the plane with with the pilot still in it began to fall as well. I had obviously damaged the main spar, which failed under G as he tried to evade.

Well done devs! I like!

It's things like that that make me go "yeaah, that's why I like this game so much". The little details make it great.

Yeah Rise of Flight is beautiful like that. You can damage an enemy in a way that weakens the structure. Then they'll do a hard turn and the wing fails. Well done.

The dynamic structural DM is inherited (though significantly changed) from RoF. IMHO it's even better in RoF because the wood-and-canvas structure will warp, bend and break rather than simply seperate.

Beautifull isnt it :)

Until today, I thought the bullet holes in my wings were just "painted on" but today I had an angle where I could see out the other side of some of them.

Flying il2 with gunner took heavy flack plane caught fire I got free from the plane, I saw my gunner jump, as he did the plane blew up his chute caught Fire and he fell with a streaming chute gear on fire and hit the ground with a thud. Awesome.
