Fantastic, many thanks.

Will we get a likeness of this start-up (only sound really), somehow in the game?

Ahh I love this film, I could watch it every day and still find it incredible.

Not to hijack the thread, but you may like this:

One of the few all original FW-190 with their BMW 801 and the only flying one I know of (yet). I know that the Collings Foundation is actually building 2 original FW-190s with their respective BMW engines. I only see one listed on the website but when I was at the local Collings Foundation gathering they mentioned they were actually working on two.

This is a real 190 also. I'm not sure if it has the original BMW 801 or is he using a Russian Ash engine. Either way it's awesome.

As the ASh-82 and the BMW 801, afaik, are both based on the blueprints from the CW R-1670, the differences aren't sooo big.

Back to topic :)  Another "worth of watching" ytube video:

Wow, these videos are awesome, I'm surprised I haven't seen any of them before.

Daimler in 109 made one of the best sounds of ww2 (airplanes).

This is beautiful.

But having to watch it on youtube, and at that quality, is like being forced to eat pizza on a coffee plate.

Do you guys know if there is something like a DVD (or, perhaps, Blu-ray...) available somewhere?

Hey Robtek, good to see you on here (probably don't remember me but we were in a few ClOD matches and the banana forums) but on to my point,

While I would agree there are many similarities between the two engines, they aren't quite the same. From what I understand (please correct me if I have this all wrong) the Ash-82 was developed from the Ash-62 which was basically a slight variation on their M-25 which was a licensed Wright Cyclone R-1820.

While the BMW 801 was developed from the BMW-139, which was more or less two BMW-132's mashed togethor; the BMW-132 being a licensed version of the P&W R-1690.

The BMW 801 and Ash-82 do have fairly similar specs in the end but they have slightly different methods in cooling, fuel delivery and forced induction and I think the fact the plane is all original is just more awesome .  It's kind of like putting a Merlin in the bf109, and while the Merlin is my favorite engine of WW2, I think it's downright wrong for it to be in a 109 (and it makes such a beautiful plane hideous). Granted I know unlike the buchon, the Ash82 basically bolts in and it doesn't change the look of the plane, but I think it's important to try to keep the planes as authentic as possible for historical purposes. That and I know that I'm an annoying audiophile (my friends call me an audiosnob :P ) but I love to hear the correct engine sound for each and every plane, for me it just adds that extra level of 'realism' that I can't get enough of (I went outside once, but the graphics and lighting were all wrong!).
