Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Still, what are your wildly speculative guesses for todays update, which may or may not come, given that we had an update just a few hours ago? Edited October 17, 2014 by Finkeren
SR-F_Winger Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I am still waiting for some Snow Oil/Watereffects on canopys MP XP counting toward itemunlocks Announcement of first DLC so i can preorder 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 S! Bug fixes, graphical options and more unlocks? Yes, we need them. I will order every single package and throw in all my hard earned if we get more unlocks a la WT style
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 My own predictions: Time compression restored to campaign mode AI improvements for level bombers and general improvements in ability to keep formation with you "You have took off" corrected to "You have tooken off" Implementation of full manual engine startup procedure Addition of a secret boss level at the end of campaign, where you fight Hitler in a "Haunebu" UFO 5
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 S! All the text could use a native english speaker to go through them. While mostly correct there are some "lost in translation" moments clearly seen.
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I don't know. Are there any native English speakers associated with the dev. team? ('Murican doesn't count )
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) S! Jason Williams or any of the testers? Edited October 17, 2014 by LLv34_Flanker
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) S! So some work for them to do. The texts are clumsy, riddled with small errors. This clearly shows they are more or less straight translations from Russian, by a non-native english speaking person. It does not work so well as a lot is lost in the translation. There are different flavors in languages that do not straightly translate over thus requiring some work. But for sure will be done. Edited October 17, 2014 by LLv34_Flanker
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Nearly wanted to say Ju-52 but now that they announced it the suprise would be left behind...hmm, ok new one: Fi-156 Storch ! Maybe some minor content and stuff. I'd actually like a controll revamp (trim bound to axis for all fighters ect) and some fixes. Not worth mentioning the MP XP point system
A-E-Hartmann Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Template for skins , Oil/Watereffects on canopys, bug fix , Ju-52 .
unreasonable Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I am hoping that the remaining features of the SP campaign discussed in the DDs are included, or at least in the final 10%. DD 21 When you enter a phase you'll be asked to join a regiment. The regiments available vary from phase to phase the way it happened back then during Battle of Stalingrad: some squadrons leave, some come to the front lines, join other units or get renamed. Which regiment you choose defines which side you server with - Soviet Air force or German Luftwaffe. You'll be free to change sides before every mission. Thus, all your stats gathered in the game get bound to your account while specific data is split in two separate profiles - USSR and Germany. Every regiment has a home base and specific aircraft in service. You can use any plane that your regiment has available. DD 23 Players will have one rank indicator for all their profiles while these profiles may have different levels depending on pilot's progress in German and Soviet campaigns. For instance, you may see a Rank 5 player meanwhile his level on the USSR profile could be higher than on the German one, and it would be shown on his badge. Historical medals/decorations will be given for players' progress through Historical campaign. Some of them will be pretty simple to earn - and they really weren't too hard to achieve in WWII; others will be very difficult to get and only a limited number of those will be given to players. Criteria of rewarding with these will be as close to the real ones as possible, as will their appearance. And every side will have its own rewards. The SP campaign as we now have it does not correspond to how it was described in these important details.
Jaeger55 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 How about the ability to fly without the nose bouncing all over so I can aim and actually enjoy the Sim. That would be great. If I could just fly straight enough, long enough, to hit something anything other than the cold snowy steppes. 1
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 How about the ability to fly without the nose bouncing all over so I can aim and actually enjoy the Sim. That would be great. If I could just fly straight enough, long enough, to hit something anything other than the cold snowy steppes. That'd be good too. Unfortunately TEARS (Talent, Experience and Reflexes Simulation) is still a technology in its infancy.
Feathered_IV Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 S! You have taken off Hell yeah. Also hope the term "airplane" is permanently expunged. I really don't want to be landing on "airplane carriers" in some future expansion. How about the ability to fly without the nose bouncing all over so I can aim and actually enjoy the Sim. That would be great. If I could just fly straight enough, long enough, to hit something anything other than the cold snowy steppes. Check you don't have control inputs like yaw set next to each other twice in the control menu. It will give you double the control input for every action.
Trooper117 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 1. Mid air refuelling. 2. Pilot health power ups whilst refuelling 3. 'Fire and forget' RBS-82 rockets. 4. Choice of fluorescent gun sight rings. 5. Parachutes optional (only after reaching pilot level 5.) 6. Introduction of Kamikaze kills. (double exp points.) 7. 'Band of Brothers' medal for all Metacritic reviews given. 8. Free UFO speed available to all pilots for only $50. (pilot must have reached level 14 and possess no more than 3 brain cells.)
Jaeger55 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Haha funny, but seriously, I have no problem with cfs3, Il2 1946, CloD, or in RoF. In BoS I have to fly straight as if it were a 747. Wait, maybe that would be an improvement. I just want the darn bouncing and wobbling to go away. Tested two different flight sticks on the other Sims, its BoS that is hypersensitive or I need to get under the hood of the Sim and adjust something, but what? I tried dead zone, and adjusting the curves with minimal results.
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I'm a purist. To me the correct term will always be "flyer"

unreasonable Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Or try flying the Soviet aeroplanes, they are far smoother in their handling than the 109s, which seems to match the historical and recent accounts very well. Lagg3 in Ground Attack role is easy to fly.
Trooper117 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Seriously though... considering the amount of mini patches we have been receiving, (all good stuff) we should be seeing something really good in todays update (be sure)...

Voidhunger Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 7. 'Band of Brothers' medal for all Metacritic reviews given. LOL!!!
3instein Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 A zoom to mouse cursor on the map would be a nice addition. Mick.
Trooper117 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I must admit... being able to adjust the size of the map would be a bonus!
Cybermat47 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I predict the Space Spitfires and Ironsides from the 'Doctor Who' episode 'Victory of the Daleks' will be added.
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 AA brought to normal level ? Above player level 10 AA became laser guided. Approaching train is like suicide now. What else ... ah yes, small hope for Ju 52. Fixed escort of attackers type of missions. And give me back my time compression
KodiakJac Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 AA brought to normal level ? Above player level 10 AA became laser guided. Approaching train is like suicide now. Beyond maybe the first four tutorials, incremental difficulty doesn't work in a combat flight Sim...its not believable and ruins immersion.
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Beyond maybe the first four tutorials, incremental difficulty doesn't work in a combat flight Sim...its not believable and ruins immersion. It would work in terms of quantities of enemies vs allies, if the campaign got harder and harder for the Germans and easier for the Soviets.
marklar Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Addition of a secret boss level at the end of campaign, where you fight Hitler in a "Haunebu" UFO Good one, but as a luftfighter I want to fight Stalin and I want Steam achievement for this! Edited October 17, 2014 by marklar
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Beyond maybe the first four tutorials, incremental difficulty doesn't work in a combat flight Sim...its not believable and ruins immersion. It would work in terms of quantities of enemies vs allies, if the campaign got harder and harder for the Germans and easier for the Soviets. Point is, that a ground attack mission (I tried La-5 in that role. FW-190 was awesome. But La-5 doesnt seem to be anywhere near the LaGG-3 durability. Goes on fire any time gunner looks at you or AA gun hits you) with various planes. Since I completed campaign week ago I just decided to "unlock" all airfields. A try various weird combinations. However due to my level (as I presume, since that is what Devs said) AA became highly effective, even high speed passes dont work. The train was just an example since I was approaching the target, saw it and dove to drop bombs to kill locomotive. When I was around 700 m from it AA just ruined me (and not only that, mission was close to enemy airfield so flying anywhere around would be a suicide too). I like when things are not easy but amount of AA guns over the objectives looks like they would group all Division AA component and call for help Luftwaffe ground units. Literally, my cover engaged the enemy 109's and soon they were shot down by AA, not to mention my flight which was damaged before we even approached the target. What is the point of enemy fighters over the objective if AA can do all the work ?
Finkeren Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Good one, but as a luftfighter I want to fight Stalin and I want Steam achievement for this! Certainly, but I warn you: His moustache is quite a lot bigger than Adolfs. It's gonna be tough. What's more: He'll be flying the I-185, and as we know from IL-2 1946 that plane is totally-über-awesome, and the only reason it wasn't put into mass production was, that it would've been unfair to the Luftpussies.
sallee Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Birdstrikes. Bird poo on the canopies. Geese. Groundcrew who get out of the way when childish sim pilots try to run them down. Only negative time compression so missions take four times as long (compulsory). Mouth organs. Geese playing mouth organs. Buffoon detectors. Buffoons playing mouth organs. Buffoons playing with geese. Ermine. Arctic foxes. Arctic hares. Lemmings. I-16s.
chris455 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 "You have took off" corrected to "You have tooken off"
s8n Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 some ladies of the night in our hangers....hey pilots need love too landing "gear" retracted instead of landing "gears" retracted...
SCG_Neun Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm guessing we'll see ponies frolicking in the snowy fields. There will be people milling about in the villages, men smoking, women hanging out the washing. I think rainbows will be added too and sundogs. The addition of meteor showers will please many. I'm pretty sure Nostradamus said something very similar to this in the year...1552. 1
