Dunes Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Dear Sirs: Like many who purchased the pre-release I have been flying combat flight sims for decades, including the "IL-2" series. However, I just removed "BOS" from my computer and will no longer be playing it. It could be useful to you to know why I have done this. 1 - With updates, I have had to repeatedly reset all of my settings, including those for the joystick. 2 - With the most recent update I can't seem to get my joystick settings to stabilize. The plane can't be controlled well. 3 - After having just done a new, clean, install, as directed, today when I went to play I was faced with yet another large update. 4 - I have found the information regarding new aspects implemented by updates to be absent or inadequate for my admittedly limited intelligence, even though I watched the explanatory video. 5 - I used to be able to practice using the various weapons in the "Quick Mission" section but now they are locked out, even there, so no practice using bombs, rockets, etc. is possible any longer. I respectfully disagree with statements made in videos that "BOS" is a "game". Instead, I consider it to be a simulator. As such, locking out features and requiring campaign achievements to access them seems counter to the history of combat flight simulators. I applaud your efforts and wish you success. It's nice to see efforts to create a new WWII combat flight simulator. Might I be so bold as to suggest, however, that it could be beneficial to stick with those features which have proven successful in the past. The "lockout" idea is creative but may be a new twist which is not necessary or useful Thank you for your time.
SharpeXB Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) You bought an Early Access game and you're upset because you keep getting updates? Ok... I reset my control settings too. It's what I'd expect for Early Access. Edited October 15, 2014 by SharpeXB 1
von_Tom Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Hey Dunes, go but check in every so often then when you're ready, fire it up again. Hood ps I back up my input folder so I can just copy over the files after an update.
SharpeXB Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 ps I back up my input folder so I can just copy over the files after an update. Good idea but sometimes when they add new commands the old file won't work.

You should have just let her lay. Edited October 15, 2014 by avlSteve
IIN8II Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I understand the unlocks frustration, but continuous updates and resets are part of the early access process.

What's the part that most people don't understand about "early access" it's normal to have lots of changes, updates, and wipes during all the process till it reach the release state. so if you accept the early access when you bought it, all your argument is invalid. sorry mate.
FlatSpinMan Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I think other people have answered this sufficiently. As they said, no-one likes mapping controls repeatedly, but that's part of the Early Access deal. We hope you continue to play and enjoy it, but it's up to you. Regarding the unlocks, post and vote in this poll started by Jason. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/11694-campaign-system-unlocks/
