Grim viewing, but I had never appreciated how close Mannsteins relief force got to Stalingrad, just 60km !

I've seen this documentary two times already.

 

Very impressive to hear the stories from both sides by people who were actually there at the frontline and in the city itself.

 

This documentary is - in my opinion- essential for everyone interested in the battle of Stalingrad.

That's an interesting thing to note: On grid square 415 there were very large amounts of AA defences. (10:30)
