If you bought it on steam you can play it on steam. If you bought it here you have to play it here. The keys are not interchangable.

When you buy it on steam, You can download it on steam and the IL-2 launcher will start up through steam.

If you buy it from here you download the launcher from http://il2sturmovik.com/download/

No problem, Thank HerrMurf also for mentioning about about the keys not being Interchangeable, Because that's is a vital bit of information.  *Edit* Also have fun with the purchase! See you in the sky's either with me or against me.

I'd buy it from here. That way all the money goes to the devs to improve the game. :)

Steam doesn't start any separated launcher needed to start BoS. When clicking "play" it goes right into the game.

I agree, the Steam start-up was very confusing.  Steam and the store-page did not mention anything about registering the product here on the website as needed.  They may have changed it, but needless to say my buddy and I were a bit flummoxed for the first 10 hours we had the game until we figured it out.
