themski Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Like, i plot in every data possible, align the target with my sights, and release bombs. I can guarantee you that the bombs will always hit a kilometer off target, even with auto drop. Can someone teach me how to level bomb? I didn't think it was supposed to be this hard.
themski Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I am, but i haven't completely understood the system yet. If i'm not wrong, i use my compass to make out at what degree the wind is hitting me from which side of the aircraft, right? If so, yes i did. But it still seems like my plane is drifting sideways, making it hard as hell to align anything with the bombsight.
Finkeren Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 It is drifting sideways. That's the effect of wind. You should train level bombing in calm weather and then move on to windy conditions once you have mastered that.
6high Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 If you need a tutorial, Chuck has made excellent ones for both the 111 and the Pe-2. Go here http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10268-chucks-aircraft-guide/ and download the guides for the according plane. There you will find a superb tutorial not only for the aircraft, but also for level bombing. Wind drift is explained here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/11600-wind-angle-calculator/ But yes, level bombing was hard back then, and it should not be too easy in BoS. The current way it`s modeled is the minimum for my taste. Enjoy and good luck,6 1
