Engine reduces to 70-80% after take off

So I play multiplayer with normal settings and when I take off my engine is at 100% throttle and after a few moments it drops down to somewhere to 70-80%? Is that because I'm carrying bombs or what?

 If playing on other difficulty than Expert the game might automatically adjust your engine power so you don't break it.

In normal mode Auto RPM limiter is on by default...you can turn it off

 

Look in Engine controls settings for the keys to turn off various auto engine functions, you can assign them all to one additional key stroke to have all assists turned off simply while flying in Normal mode

When playing on non-expert servers I always do these:

• leftshift-M turns on complex engine management
• leftshift-N turns off RPM limiter
• leftshift-R turns off auto radiator management

There's another one I can't remember offhand, and sometimes I hit H to hide all icons and hud. That's how to play expert on a normal server.
