BFsSmurfy Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Late in the day but it would be cool to see the pilot climbing out of the plane and walking away looking back at the aircraft after you land and open the cockpit?? 2
1CGS LukeFF Posted October 13, 2014 1CGS Posted October 13, 2014 Not gonna happen and totally unnecessary.
Finkeren Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Says I as well. This request is as old as flight simming itself, yet it will never be more than a gimmick which will quickly wear out and not be worth the effort to make it. 1
steppenwolf Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Sorry I just gotta ask; Finkeren and Luke, do you guys work for 777 or something?
Finkeren Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Far from it. I'm kind of a fan of their products, but right now you'll find me criticizing the hell out of the choices made in designing the campaign, the unlock system and the forced presets. My answer here simply means that I don't think it's a necessary or even very cool addition to the sim.
1CGS LukeFF Posted October 13, 2014 1CGS Posted October 13, 2014 Sorry I just gotta ask; Finkeren and Luke, do you guys work for 777 or something? As an independent contractor, yes. That's why I have that text in my signature. Getting back to the topic at hand - I'm here to fly and fight, not to walk around my plane admiring the scenery. As Finkeren said, the request is a gimmick.
SeriousFox Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 There's lot of gimmick in this game already.
steppenwolf Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Just curious guys, no offense. I think you're partly right. They would be gimmicky, but that's only because it's 2014 and they'd be done poorly. Not modeling some aspect of reality isn't exactly 'immersive'. It's skimping. I think if video games continue the way they've been going though, not modeling pilot animations will someday seem silly. Just look at Chuck Yeager's Air Combat or Red Baron. It's hard to think that was entertaining at one point, and that wasn't that long ago. Lets just hope we have our eyesight left when we're eighty.
BFsSmurfy Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Marks for artistic impression and immersion rather than practicality, it is a gimmick but a nice one, anyway it`s just an idea an old one apparently.
G_GART Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Hi everyone! +1 Not just that I prefer the pilot / crew is able to board the aircraft, also completely animated pilot and crew that you can control with your mouse, when they are on the field, and animated AAA guns crew.
SCG_Neun Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) I think Microsoft had this type of animation in their WWII CFS game and it was a really neat immersion experience. Besides....Smurfy was just wishing anyways. It's okay to dream....and Luke....you might be here to fly and fight and that's okay...but this whole production journey I've heard about the need to court the new.....target audience, and something like this would be appealing to them.....and personally...to me as well. I mean, come on.....a lot of us are here for the history....such a feature makes this more personal....just like seeing the pilot in the aircraft..looking around. I mean...you could say the same thing...Im here to fly and fight, I don't need a pilot animated in some cockpit.....is that a gimmick too, or is that an immersion factor? How about the flybye view, same? Silent Hunter.....watching the U-boat shove off...with the people waving...nurses on the docks......that's cool....that's immersion, that's taking you back to what really took place.....Recently the devs commented on the reason behind the award design....that they wanted to honor the real medals and awards because they stood for something special, to the men and women that merited them. I think anything that shows a simulated human being behind the controls, and perhaps his entire body climbing out of an aircraft...does in fact honor them as "people"....An aircraft spewing death and destruction.....without the emphasis on what it took to pilot that aircraft.....really is just a "fly and fight" mindset. But to bring it back down to earth...I'd settle for some additional command features, and some more radio chatter from the AI during single player type missions...and some more tweaking before I'd go animation. SCG_Neun Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Besides....I don't understand this word "gimmick" in this context. What and how are things "gimmicks" if they create immersion in a game that was labeled a CFS in the first place. Are really great clouds and weather a gimmick? How about "cinematic" features, or the unlocks in the campaign? Smoke wafting up from burning buildings.....men running from strafed vehicles.....broken canopy glass....What's a gimmick? How are any of these things....defined as "tricks" and not immersion. Well...maybe the unlocks.....but that's another story...
CF-105 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I think that there should be a first person view bailing animation, and the ability to get out of the plane if it's on fire, like you could in 1946, but for now anything else really doesn't feel as important as, say, summer!
