I just bought a trackir with intentions to use it with BoS, but even though i do everything according to the manual i haven't managed to get it to work.

So if someone who owns a trackir could tell me how i can get mine to work(step by step) i would be very thankful.

My trackir is 5 and software 5.2.2

Welcome Jookan. First, is your TiR installed and working?  My TIR was pretty much plug and play, however I can offer suggestions. To avoid problems it is recommended that you install the TIR software before you even plug in your TIR  And also be sure to turn your TIR on before starting BoS, or any sim you plan on using it in for that matter.

Yes, my TiR is installed and the software seems to work properly with the virtual grid moving when my head moves, but i plugged the TiR in before installing the software.

What problems may occur and how should i fix them?

I know at one time Natural Point, the TIR folks advised installing software first to avoid problems but If the software seems to be working and you get the screen with the Virtual Grid The order in which you installed the software/ hardware should not be an issue. AFAIK there are no settings or anything that you would have to turn on or disable in order for TIR to work in BoS.  does the TIR work in other Sims or are you just having issues in BoS?

Well, i haven't tried it on anything else than BoS and 1946, and i'm not sure if it is supposed to work on the vanilla 1946, so the answer is no. :(

I have never played 1946 but I am relatively certain that your TIR should work in that sim.

Tip: Start TIR before you fire up the game.

Second tip: IIRC the Pilot head controls setup has a Device selection on the bottom. See if it works. I didn't have to use it but is worth a try ?

Yes, there is a device tab, but no trackir to choose

On the 'virtual Head 'screen, at the top right there is a button or tab - updates, try cliking on that.  The green light  on the left of the TIR camera should be on when you have the TrakClip or TIR Pro on. When you go into BoS are both lites on? If so what color.

Checked updates-newest version

Virtual head screen- left green light

il-2 BoS- same

Both lights are on only when pausing the TiR

Both lites should be on when pausing but they should not be green. When TIR is paused both lites are like a yellow-orange color. Just out of curiosity, is it possible that you have one of the TIR 'hotkeys' pause, center, etc double mapped to some other function in BoS. Its starting to sound like TIR wants to work in BoS for you but something is stopping it?

When pausing the lights are yellow-orange, so there is no problems in that, and i use Requiem's profile, so that should solve the problem with double mapping. Should BoS be visible in the "titles" section?

Very strange indeed.

I don't chose any Title in the TIR selection and have only 2 profiles, 1 for air simulation and another for ArmA and both work right of the bat.

Can't think of anything, maybe remove all the keyboard/hat stick controls assigned in the pilot head options, making sure that mouse isn't even used.

Another trick is to change the hotkeys, for pause, center on the TIR and try to pause it and unpause while BoS is running. Some process might be entering dummy mode in your particular system (?).

I solved the problem, it turns out TiR won't work on a standard win7 account, it has to be an admin account.

Thank you for your time and help!

Yay.

As we say in the job - hardware is always on the right side of the fence.

Have fun.

Yes, you have to launch the game as administrator or it won't work (it's the same for exery game)
