Seeing Planes and Ground Targets

It seems with the latest rounds of updates it has become next to impossible to spot, let alone identify, targets in the air or on the ground in expert mode. I tried flying the campaign missions to intercept bombers and couldn't even see them half the time and I could never spot my targets in the bombing missions. When I do spot another plane it is incredibly close. Does anyone have any suggestions or is this something that could be addressed somehow by the developers to make them stand out slightly more so you at least have a chance of spotting them?
