Looking for damaged MS FFB2 for parts (or really detailed schematics?)

My FFB2 died a month ago and fix-it-all person trying to repair it just told me a transistor burned out in board controlling the motor(s).He has no idea what kind of transistor it is and can't find it by looking on it, so he can't replace it.

Do you know of schematics available online and detailed enough to let him know what to replace the transistor with (unlikely, but worth a shot)? Quick google sweep found nothing.

Failing that, does any of you have a damaged (or midi version) FFB2 with different kind of damage that you'd be willing to sell me for parts? Preferably if you live in Europe, so the cost of shipping won't get higher than cost of stick itself.

Last time I had one fail it was the transformer on the board that the power lead plugs into, the old power brick style was far more robust. The electricians at my old place couldn`t fix it either although they did say an alternative might be found given the time to look for one. I passsed on the offer and fished about on Ebay for a week, I bought three all for sub $30 and I`ve still got those 3 which all still function properly. The red light version is supposed to be the later one, although I wouldn`t go looking in a red light district to get your stick repaired!!!!!

Hi Trupobaw,

look here:

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18562

and specially here:

http://www.simprojects.nl/ms_siderwinder_ff2_hack.htm

They display a lot of photos of SW FFB2 inner parts with their code.

I guess your transistor got burned to the point you can't read the info on it necessary to replace it. Then, the photos on this last link will be very useful to you as they seem to show all the PCB electronics in your joy.

Good luck.  ;)

If you come to Sweden you can pickup my fully working almost mint condition MS FFB2 for free. Shipping in/from Sweden is around the same price as a new one (if they existed) And I don't have the original box, so I would have to build a box that ships safely, and I'm too lazy for that.

Thanks Engadin, sent it to guy doing the repairs and got reply  that he's ordering replacement transistors!
