Jaeger55 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 In the Settings , controls, devices, there is a noise filter slider. What does increasing the value of this slider do?
Jaeger55 Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 After some time tinkering, I find that increasing that value softens but reduces the range of movement of the controls.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 It reduces the noise of the sticks inputs not the max movement. Imagine If you have a poor quality sensor in your hardware there will be inconsistent noise in the signal which would cause your controls to flutter when you are holding the stick still. You can sorta emulate this by wiggling the joystick ever so slightly at the min and max settings and seeing the effect. Basically adding any value to this setting will increase lag in your controller so it's recommended you use the least value possible without seeing noise, which would look like vibration in your controls. "Filtering is a class of signal processing, the defining feature of filters being the complete or partial suppression of some aspect of the signal. Most often, this means removing some frequencies and not others in order to suppress interfering signals and reduce background noise."
Jaeger55 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 The more I move the slider to increase the value the less range of motion I get in game, as if I increased the dead zone Sometimes for a split second I will get full range of movement. This is all in an effort to stop the nose from wobbling all over so I can aim.
