=SwiAiF=Maverick85 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Hey guys.. Is the oxygen mask animated yet? regards Janick
216th_Peterla Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Is there any statement confirming this feature?
Finkeren Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 It's a purely cosmetic thing, for the BoS level of modeling anyway, so it's not really top of the list. There's always the posibility to add it after release.
=SwiAiF=Maverick85 Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 me too, only cosmetic, that's enough!
[TWB]Outlaw- Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 How do you want it animated? Third person? Because first person you wouldn't normally see it unless you were looking at your feet.
Feathered_IV Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Functional would be best. Wrenching a Yak around in a punishing turn. Greying out and looking backwards as a 109 swims into view. Fumbling for the keys to turn the oxygen up to emergency. Vision returning, pulling a few more degrees into the turn. The 109 stalls and flicks away...

Elbows Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 It would be neat to have the need to put on your oxygen mask at appropriate altitude, and perhaps add a small sound effect (which increases/changes during black/grey/red outs). Failure to do so would result in a slow grey out or something.
150GCT_Veltro Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Is a must, cosmetic or not, and however...cosmetic is also an important aspect of the game industry today. We hope to have this feature simulated (working) in the next future, it would be a great addition.
Praetor Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Outside of the movies, I'm pretty sure they had their O2 mask on from takeoff - landing. Movies keep it off so you can identify the characters. It's not realistic. You wouldn't even be able to communicate.

I've seen many pictures particularly from the VVS where many pilots even flew with open canopies, which clearly shows them not using masks. Most WW2 radio and intercom systems used a throat microphone IIRC. The mic would not be placed inside the mask itself (for obvious reasons as there is often heavy condensation inside such a mask and keeping the tubes clear of ice is a constant concern for the pilot.

Much of the combat on the Eastern Front took place at altitudes where oxygen masks were not needed.
39bn_pavig Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Though you might feel "immersed" wearing one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-Russian-PILOT-Leather-FLIGHT-MASK-Mint-Cond-ORIG-1941-Soviet-Aviator-Uniforn-/371101972520
Elbows Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I was planning on getting some sweet aviator goggles and a scarf of course... :D
