Catch_0x16 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) 1C / 777, please listen-to or lose fans. These unlocks have created a lot of disgust and heated debate, and rightly so - as they serve no place in a hardcore sim and were a terrible idea. But thankfully they have been introduced in the Beta, which afterall is meant for testing new features etc. It is not too late to remove them, but I understand you have taken time integrating this system into the engine and it would be silly to waste it. SO: Why not remove the idea of 'unlocking' things, and keep it as per Rise of Flight, I.e. you can purchase additions to your aircraft. This system works, and people are used to it now - and it gives you a solid monitization model for the future, which your publishers will want to see. Then, use % and skill gaining feature to give players rank. These ranks should not be used to matchmake servers, as there aren't enough players (this isn't, and never will be world of warplanes). Instead, use it to give players famous aircraft skins (famous fighter aces in those aircraft). And also notify all players on the server when an ace is shot down/ joins the server/ does something worth boasting about. This will give people a reason to want to gain experience, land properly and not just waste aircraft, and it will also make good use of your experience gaining feature. Thirdly, doing the above will alow you to remove this silly unlock feature without losing face and fans at the same time. Win/win/win. You only get one chance to make a first impression, don't alienate people this early in development! Edited October 7, 2014 by Guy123
ParaB Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Why not remove the idea of 'unlocking' things, and keep it as per Rise of Flight, I.e. you can purchase additions to your aircraft. I would uninstall BoS and demand a refund the moment such a policy would be enacted. The system in RoF works because most of the additions are mere cosmetic or provide only a very limited advantage. Many of the unlocks in BoS go way farther than that. You start playing with such a fire and I'm out of here faster than you can say "Pay2Win". 2
wellenbrecher Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 as they serve no place in a hardcore sim They already said they didn't want to make a sim but a "game". Personally I wouldn't want to separate like that, but that's what was said.

You start playing with such a fire and I'm out of here faster than you can say "Pay2Win". I actually completely agree with you and think you may have misunderstood me. I Don't mean players can pay for more cannons, or oxygen masks, or superchargers etc. - then as you say it becomes pay-to-win and sh*t. However, things like decals, nose-art, camo patterns etc. could be purchased or earned with XP - purely cosmetic. Additional planes too like in RoF, I personally get annoyed sometimes on RoF when I have to purchase planes to join an MP server, but it is waaaaaayyyy better than being forced to trawl through a crappy campaign to earn them. They already said they didn't want to make a sim but a "game". Personally I wouldn't want to separate like that, but that's what was said. Its a real shame too. This could have been so great - instead its going to be just another generic sh*tty arial shooter. I'll bet you also that it was 1C's idea. They are DESPERATE to cash in on the world of warplanes/war thunder cash model. Guess what 1C?: You're too late! Another reason why publishers are becoming less and less popular in the games industry. Shame 777 couldn't have afforded this via kickstarter.
