dburne Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I guess it was Auto Level that I was using, but still, whats the difference if you can go x2 as opposed to x16. Is x 16 just too fast? I hate to tell you what happened last time i went x16. I promise I won't carry scissors. Well the sim can certainly handle X16 just fine, only reasoning I can gather from cutting it down to x2, is to force folks to progress slower through the missions. I am not sure why though, especially as they have removed AI Autopilot from the equation.
Stallion Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 At least we can unlock these attachments through the singleplayer this time, unlike those gypo "packs" from Rise of Flight.
kaboki Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) very sovietic Too qoute a guy from Simhq "I guess what makes it funny is the fact they are Russian, and I can see a Stalin'ish man over a podium telling me how to play." I think it fits so damn good of what is going on with this game Edited October 6, 2014 by kaboki
Afwastus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) A lot of you guys really make me laugh. You actually think that because you splashed nearly 100 bucks on this EA that you somehow have entitlement to stipulate how things should be. 777 alone have that entitlement and your money gives you a ringside seat to the construction site as the edifice goes up. Your comments on the work are welcome by the crews doing the work but it's their show and they call the shots, it's their business and they have the right and responsibility to direct things how they wish. If you spent half the energy that you do on the whining on actually flying the sim, and trying to enjoy it whilst you do so, you would have unlocked everything by now that you need for MP. I mean for the love of whatever God you believe in, stop behaving like brats and get on with the job of playing through the EA as it is given. You chose it, I did too, and I am enjoying it loads. Agreed Comrade #59372. Play the game you capitalist scumbags! Edited October 6, 2014 by Afwastus

Ah, it's different though chap. In RoF you didn't own the unlocks (and aircraft) until you physically bought it with real money. In BoS you already own everything but it's being purposely withheld from you in the name of a very poor man's SP campaign.
wellenbrecher Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 What the hell? Take away the autopilot and limit us to x2? Is this a bad joke or something? "Hey devs, this feature is a bit silly and limits the game for those that don't ever plan on using it." QUICK SOLUTION! MAKE IT WORSE! Wow... just... wow. One year of, in my eyes, nearly exemplary dev-customer relationship blown to the wind in four days. 2

AbortedMan Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 You chose it, I did too, and I am enjoying it loads. No one that is complaining chose this, and we're not enjoying it, so it pretty much makes the rest of your sentiment moot. I'd hate to live in a world where everything you purchased that wasn't satisfactory to the buyer meant they were SOL, but I'd also love to live in your world where everything you purchase is 100% satisfactory/awesome. 1
wellenbrecher Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Hear, hear Aborted. It blows my mind that there is such a huge amount of people that play games that for some reason feel the need to oblige to the will of the industry instead of expecting them to please you. After all, they are the one with the money the industry wants and not the other bloody way around.

I have a job. I do this for fun, on my money. If you get paid for doing this and it's a job for you, then go do it. Don't ask me to do crap I don't have time for. If it was a good career it may be worth it for some. Think about it. I had a couple hours yesterday, and i got to it. After the training missions, I switched to German side to get some of the 190 stuff, as fast as possible.got the autopilot and 16 speed (it's more like 4 times in reality) to get me to action asap. I'd do the shooting then autopilot and time compression back to base. I did a bunch of intercept missions in 190, then did a few in 109 G2 until I got the two Romanian skins, AND I'VE NEVER SEEN AN IL-2. NOT EVEN ONE. Same repetitive, boring to tears missions. 3 pe2's, here and there a Lagg or a yak....over and over again. And btw, many people posting here don't post from their gaming PC all the time. Can't play BOS on this Note3. Edited October 6, 2014 by Jaws2002 2
SharpeXB Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 So you're all upset because the developer took out a cheat from the game? It was ridiculous that the AI autopilot was even a feature to begin with. The speed set at 2x could be upped a bit now that AP is gone. Although I limit myself to 2x anyways, faster than that is a good way to get shot down. 1
Afwastus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Indeed, time compression is a cheat that has plagued the flight sim community for too long! No player wishes to skip to the action! All enjoy spending 15 min flying to and from combat! Edited October 6, 2014 by Afwastus

READ THIS AND UNDERSTAND THIS: It's ridiculous that I have to play Single Player to get loadouts for Multi Player. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. People don't want to play it and yet are forced to if they want everything out of the game that they paid for. And now they made it worse instead of offering a fix or even a bloody argument as to why it should be this way.
dburne Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Indeed, time compression is a cheat that has plagued the flight sim community for too long! I personally was fond of how the original IL-2 handled it, they offered both time compression, and " skip to the next action point". On some of those long missions I was very fond of that skip feature. I am going to have to reinstall 1946 again, how dare they take away my cheat LOL.

You chose the EA and the rules of combat were all laid out in front of you when you signed up and paid in. You do not get to choose how things are to be done. Constructive comments would be welcome over at 777 I feel sure but all the rest will, hopefully, fall on deaf ears. You seem to think that you have purchased a finished product and that you have consumer rights of redress or something. You bought a seat in the operating theatre, if you will, you can look at what the surgeons are doing but you don't get to interfere with their work. I am very clear that what I paid for is an experience of EA and the final product when it's released. I am 100% satisfied with what I have at the moment. When the sim is released as a final product I can then decide whether I want to continue flying it or not. Edited October 6, 2014 by MADOV 1

wellenbrecher Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) @MADOV And because you are 100% satisfied with the product the fact that many others are not, is completely moot? AbortedMan Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 So you're all upset because the developer took out a cheat from the game? It was ridiculous that the AI autopilot was even a feature to begin with. The take away is not that there shouldn't be autopilot in a sim, but that people didn't want to participate in the SP campaign or participate in the aspects of it they did not like. Allowing this is an industry (and social living) standard to a reasonable degree...with EVERY game. It's important to note here that devs aren't making a game that these players want and not only ignoring the community's grievances, but intentionally making them worse. How do you think Battlefield 3/4 would have been received if they both required players to play the mind numbingly boring and scripted singleplayer campaign to obtain all gameplay changing unlocks? ...oh god, why am I comparing BoS to the Battlefield series...OH GOD WHY ARE THERE UNLOCKS IN BOS?! 7
dburne Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 oh my... After today's announcement, you are going to have to change your sig lol.
Madov Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) You got very low standards compared to many others I believe. Nothing to do with personal standards, nor expectations. If I don't rate the sim when it is finished I won't cry about it, simply won't fly it. Get a life and man up! Edited October 6, 2014 by MADOV 3

SharpeXB Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 That was in normal settings with all other aids and helpers. Maybe you are happy they removed the autopilot and enabled the aim helper....... Tell me with a straight face this makes sense..... Does it make sense that there's a setting where you can watch the game AI play for you and give you the unlocks? No... You're seriously surprised they took that out after all the bragging on the forum about cheating the game?Is there a mode in Call of Duty where you can just set the game to run all by itself? No. 2
ducs Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I agree with removing full autopilot. I liked the 16x tho =(
Afwastus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 If they copied Call of Duty they would sell more copies though. Maybe change the game to an FPS?
354thFG_Leifr Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 It's OK chaps. Next update will see the removal of all playable aircraft. Instead, we shall enjoy watching the AI fly our aircraft for us throughout our glorious SP campaign!

Stallion Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 While I don't agree with being forced to play it, the single player is a very unique model with the random missions, and a fairly good time if you can use the auto-level and 2x effectively. I don't see why the speedy autopilot is gone, seeing as how even Combat Flight Simulator from 1998 would let you skip the scenery and get right to the "Action Point" immediately after take off. I'm sure some developers would agree that making the player spend time doing almost nothing is a poor choice though. I personally have found the campaign to be less entertaining as a result of the slower pace. I get excited to hop into multiplayer and suddenly get the idea to have the white yak with the red nose cone...and I have to leave my friends behind and grind in the campaign mode. In my head I'm thinking"I could have killed ten men in the time it takes to get to three heinkels!" I'm not getting valuable practice time by doing it, I already earned my "interceptor" badge long ago when I made three men burn to death in a virtual PE-2 and typed "lol" into the chat box.
Uriah Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 "it's now possible to speed up time" Was Einstein consulted? 3
Afwastus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) I think that they should make it mandatory to slow time down in single player, so we can spend even more time flying to and from an objective as well as fighting in slow motion (which is something that is very popular with the younger generation). If the game ran at a negative compression rate of say x48, we would all have ample time to marvel at the scenery and the aircraft models. In a stroke of brilliance, because people would be playing for 5+ hours on one mission it would lead to tiredness (just like in real life) and it would make BoS one of the most played games on steam. FZG_Merlin Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I think they should force people to take off from the ground, and warm up the engine for 30min before its ready. You know, its more realistic, and makes as much sense as forcing people to fly hundreds of kilometers of nav in 2x every freaking time..
SharpeXB Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I guess the 16x time compression is a cheat since you get extra points for the long missions. Otherwise you can just accelerate the long mission into a short one and collect the extra score.
