HagarTheHorrible Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Is the early access definately an Alpha or Beta ? Is it designed for, hopefully constructive, bug fixing ? How about FM's ? There will be, whether we like it or not, differences of opinion about FM's, it's the nature of the beast and hopefully it can be done in as pleasant and constructive a manner as possible. Given some of the rancoor that frequented the boards in RoF and that it seemed, except in one or two cases, that given the way they are created and the complexety of the FM's within the DN engine nothing really changed, or appeared too, that once the FM's were set then that was pretty much it and that there is really very little that can be done to revisit them once finalized. Do you think this will be equally true of the BoS Alpha/beta ? Please play nice, and that not everyone is a native english speaker so missunderstandings may occur but not be meant in anything like the way they are taken. 1
Zak Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Is the early access definately an Alpha or Beta ?Yes. Not pre-alpha, not release version Is it designed for, hopefully constructive, bug fixing ?We'll use the results of early access period for bug fixing and other improvements How about FM's ?Players' feedback will be gathered however in a flight sim not likes and dislikes determine how a plane flies but the laws of physics There will be, whether we like it or not, differences of opinion about FM's, it's the nature of the beast and hopefully it can be done in as pleasant and constructive a manner as possible.Everyone is indiviual, and everyone's opinion will be heard and listened to Given some of the rancoor that frequented the boards in RoF and that it seemed, except in one or two cases, that given the way they are created and the complexety of the FM's within the DN engine nothing really changed, or appeared too, that once the FM's were set then that was pretty much it and that there is really very little that can be done to revisit them once finalized. We improved the ROF engine and made it more flexible for our needs Please play nice, and that not everyone is a native english speaker so missunderstandings may occur but not be meant in anything like the way they are taken.Amen 1

leitmotiv Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 From what i saw on russian forum and Petrovitch many posts and answers in my opinion FMs of airplanes in BoS will be the most realistic as possible in WW2 air war sim, good job for team working on that aspect of sim

The team will do the best job possible. IL2 BOS will be fantastic. The Alpha will be a tremendous amount of fun, and I feel badly for the players not participating in the Alpha, but IL2 BOS will only get much better from there on, into the Beta, the release, and beyond. No worries... MJ Edited August 26, 2013 by =69.GIAP=MIKHA
322Sqn_Dusty Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) During my visit at Gamescom i’ve had a chat about planes behaviour with Albert and Jason. The planes are composed with data gathered during at least four months and what already was known. Every part plays it’s role and are math wise calculated. Some of the planes, where possible, were visited and proven flown. It’s impossible for me to compare how they really fly but it felt ok while testing the Alpha. I can imagine that performance between the same type also differs due the parts used irl (wear and tear). Edited August 27, 2013 by 322Sqn_Dusty

Yes, I suspected as much. After dealing with Albert, Jason, and other members of the United Team, as a ROF customer, for some years now, I am utterly confident that they will do the very best job possible on iL2 BOS. BFsSmurfy Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 If I remember the words correctly from Gamescom flight/performance data gained from multiple sources is checked against physics, they know the dimensions weights etc of the planes they know the power outputs and drag etc etc, if the physics don`t back up the data then they don`t use it (Jason/Albert might need to correct me on that???), basically performance data has to be backed up by the physics. I was happily surprised that this was the method/checking system used as it clearly shows that the devs care about producing the best most accurate FMs possible. If you know how these people work and had seen the work done so far you`d have no hesitation in buying the product, as an engineer/draughtsman myself I was very impressed.
