Way to go! Gives me hope at a ripe old 58.  Mind you I have aged a year in the last ten days or so...

This poll should've been one of the first poll they themselves asked us, then we wouldn't have been be so cranky lately, since everyone know that us 40+ are really cranky.. and offended by forced tutorials and unlocks :D (and food that need to be chewed, and movies that are in color..)

(BTW I noticed I were just 39 at the original ROF poll)

The people who are under 40 have better things to do than vote in polls like this! Once I've finished my wordsearch and read the obituaries, I'm at a loose end.

Well sometimes I spice it up by forgetting where I put my reading glasses TBH.

It's Not hard to imagine Why the majority is over forty, a lot of us grew up watching reruns of old war movies. I still vividly remember watching tora tora tora and the Blue Max.

Salutations,

67 years old here. Watched my copy of Tora Tora Tora again yesterday. :salute:

Salutations,

I don't think it has been mentioned but one of the attractions of flight simulations, like IL2, is the lack of reliance on quick twitch reflexes for in game success.

Oh, skill is still required and involved but our reflexes don't play a 'major role' in our mission successes or failures. At 67, I like and prefer the slower pace of realistic flight simulations.

The excitement and rush of air combat remains but it is not caused by a continuous wave after wave after wave of ever more dangerous opponents and how fast I can aim and press a fire button.

Oh damn, that time is passing so fast. I've almost reached another category.

Man...you need to have 50+ and 60+ , you will be surprised by how old people are

Posted

Indeed. I'd estimate you got 4 categories for the youngest 40%, and 1 for the rest...

15 years of age in April.

Also Tora Tora Tora is a great movie, all that footage of Zeros attacking the B-17s

Looking at my kids and their friends the PC / Laptop today for the most is just as attractive as the typewriter became when I was 18 ... today that smartphone-stuff, gaming consoles etc deliver "fun" much more easy and without the need to understand operation systems, updates, patches, drivers etc. - that's one thing, quite understandable to me.

The other thing I can't sort out why there's something like a "common disinterest". For me and a lot of contemporaries the PC was a fine solution to fulfil our dreams up to a certain degree. Ok, I can't fly jets or 4-engine-heavies, steer steamers, locomotives or whatever in real. But at least I can simulate a lot of it, master the problems, learn procedures = GREAT FUN! Today most kids stand next to me while flying, note respectfully it's quite complicated and attractive to look at. But if I tell them "here, take over" there's no interest. I often earn a bewildered view "old man, enjoy yourself, but why on earth should I be interested in doing that?"

I knew the pilots in this sim skewed a bit older than the typical game but I'm surprised by how much :)

MFW I'm only 20

I'm a [EDIT] baby compared to most of you

BOS to ROF comparison so far:

0-20     -     BOS (  8,33 %)  ROF ( 8% )

21-30   -     BOS ( 19,44%)  ROF ( 19% )

30-40    -     BOS (  23,15%) ROF ( 24% )

40+      -      BOS (  49,07%) ROF ( 49%)

hm... same people buying sims?

lol.

Maybe... I'm 23 and I got a lot of sims (LockOn, Il2 1946, FSX, etc.). I think we are always the same community new players are here because of family (father, brother, friends). There is a lack of Marketing in Flight Sims games.

Old il 2 I know people passing 75 years, and know of up to 80. I think we all going to die on old age with a joystick in our hand,

That gave me a unwanted picture in my head

Ha ha ha, i think this shows the Devs haven't quite got a grip on the customer base age demographic.

Alot of people on here from the Il2 days, including me.
