Remove Autopilot from Normal & Expert Difficulty

The full AI Autopilot shouldn't be available in the Normal or Expert difficulty modes since it allows the player to have the plane flown automatically in the Campaign. It's an odd choice to have that setting available. Like having "Invulnerable" checked. It's fine for that to be available in the Custom settings where no points are earned. No game or sim I'm aware of has a mode that automatically plays for the player. Games are supposed to be interactive entertainment. If you don't want that, just watch a movie.

Or change the AP to 'straight and level' only.  Haven't had any long distance (100+ Km to 'action zone'/target) missions yet but I can see where a little AP might be useful (getting bearings, taking screenshots) but a full AI AP in the campaign is a bit over-the-top imo.

The autopilot is the only option that saves those who don't want to use the unlock system / camaign. NOT because they are spoiled kids but they have limited time to fly and they don't want to waste it playing the campaign. If the AP bothers you - don't use it.

Stop forcing people to play single player campaign then.

None of us who use the autopilot enjoy having to use it, but we enjoy grinding through SP even less. So essentially, we pick the lesser of two evils.

If we could get XP from playing multiplayer it would at least be bearable, but with things as they currently are I am not going to sit and repeat "quick missions" until I have unlocked something I enjoy or need for MP by playing SP.

Level autopilot is a requirement for level bombing so leave that in there. I don't mind full autopilot for long flights where it can be useful with time compression to help approach a distant AO and can be switched off if contact is spotted. I was under the impression though that full AI wasn't enabled in expert... Unless something has changed in the last update.

Level autopilot is a different command than the full AI autopilot. That seems fine to have available in all difficulties. It's a hold over from RoF where the planes don't have trim controls and flying long distances is a bit tiring. It's also more or less realistic for the bombers to have that function.

Don't you think it's odd game design that AI control AP is available as a command during actual gameplay?

I used the Shift+A autopilot all the time in RoF multiplayer. When I want another coffee or the dog has to go outside. Just leave my plane there flying along unmanned. Nobody has shot me down that way yet...

Its not odd for IL-2 game, as i know all IL-2 game had this option

Why do you care if some one uses auto pilot on his own SP campaign missions, is what i dont understand, its SP

And what about a penalty for use Autopilot for more than 2 minutes?

If player do this, his plane is warped for randomly place in the map, the waypoint aids is turned off and the yellow banner advert that if the dont find the base and landing, will lost all XP and the campaign will be reset to "training" missions.  :)

the point of using the AP is not having to play that campaign to unlock basic equipment. we have RL
