Chuck_Owl Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 This narrator has a voice that commands respect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AX2ewMN1lc
unreasonable Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Really? I thought the voice was awful: he sounds as though he is about to burst into tears at any moment. Not that good voice acting should be at the top of the budget requirements, but for an English language voice over I would have preferred either a voice with a heavy Russian accent or a proper 1940's style British RP accent of the type that you would hear on a BBC recording from the period. Then again the cinematic is awful as well. Why not just use some in-flight recordings?
GP* Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I thought it was pretty well done actually. I like seeing footage that isn't just game material -- you'll see plenty of that when you play. My only critique is that the information was thrown out there far too quickly. It would have been easier to absorb if slown down just a little.
ParaB Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 ...the voice was awful... the cinematic is awful as well... I swear some of you guys would probably wither and die if you stopped bitching and moaning for just five minutes. 2
Finkeren Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 The cinematics are fine, the narrator does the job well enough. I particularly liked the second video. Still, I can't shake the thought about how many resources went into making these and how those resources could have been spent adding a bit of immersive atmosphere to the campaign itself. 3
unreasonable Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I swear some of you guys would probably wither and die if you stopped bitching and moaning for just five minutes. The only thing that makes me want to wither and die is seeing this kind of brainless ad-hominem remark whenever anyone posts a personal view that is less than complimentary about some aspect of the game.
Matt Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I would've preferred seing the movements of the armies, changes of the frontline etc. on the map. Something classic. Or just a video with the ingame graphics. Or just real WW2 fotage, like in the last video. Can't say i like the look of the cinematics, seems too stylized to me. The narration is alright.
senseispcc Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) This are details, the dev team could have taken the easy way and put some actual film with the same comment but they decided to create something unique. I thank them for it and the content tutorial included is fine for me better than COD campaigns or IL2 original ones or for me ROF ones how are a little too difficult and I am not speaking of the COD campaigns made by other outside dev team how are mostly made of list of missions without any random to it. I find this way to make campaigns fine but a bit to abstract?! No squadrons, staffels or air regiments?! Edited October 5, 2014 by senseispcc

I quite liked them but the information was thrown at the viewer a bit too fast.

Absolutely, I made this very point in another thread. Yeah I agree too, I think the campaign feels more like a set of single missions. Also there's images of Ju52's in the airlift stage yet no Ju52's in game
VBF-12_Stele Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I enjoyed the cinematic, and yes I was thinking that about the narrator.
Rjel Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I liked the couple I've seen so far. I would like to know why some can see them without any pauses while others (me included) have pauses every few seconds. They do remind me of video cuts seen in flight sims years ago.
soupdragon Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 the narrator sound like Jeremy Irons. It's not him though is it? SD
Gustang Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) It's too late to change it, but these campaign mini documentaries seem like the training cinematics in RoF - a waste of resources. I tend to agree that this seems like a lot of effort for something that is quickly forgotten. They're far too short and packed with details that speed by you that you're left reaching for a rewind button (that doesn't exist). This (much needed) setting information could have been far better served by text that I could take in at my leisure. After the show, why not allow access to the setting text (copy/text used by the narrator) via a button somewhere in the mission selection screen? Edited October 6, 2014 by Gustang
-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Chuck I enjoyed your video compilation. And full credit to those who made the originals. I do agree that they are a bit accelerated but I suppose they had time constraints. I would question abstractness of the very first campaign video. Artistic nature? I'm sure but then I've never gravitated towards abstract anything. Thanks for the video Chuck. Chief
ACG_KaiLae Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 When they play for me, they are laced with static and hard therefore to understand. If they worked right I would say that they are the best thing currently about the campaign.
