Spinnetti Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 In IL2, I move my head around in external view to setup for nice screenshots. How do I do that in BOS? Right now, the view is fixed when I got external and have to use the mouse. Thanks. 1
dburne Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I would love it too, it would be nice - but we have asked about this several times in the past - without a single reply from the developers. I don't think they care about this. 1
Eagle-OnePirabee Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Well, the mouse use in external view seems good enough. I'm usually irritated by the TR5 control of external view in FSX mainly because the centered view is stuck to the tail end profile and I have to crank my neck and head about to see what I'm more interested in. And so I was quite pleased to find that in BOS the opposite is the case and I'm free to rotate the external view with my hat switch and if I pop back into the pit TR5 immediately takes over again. I think that's a rather cute arrangement. Pirabee. Edited August 27, 2015 by Eagle-OnePirabee
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 On a similar note, if you viewing a track you can move the camera around on external view but not while in the cockpit. We used to be able to do this in the old IL2 (not sure about ROF).
SharpeXB Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I never liked the way you have to use the TrackIR to orbit the external view in Ciffs of Dover, it's really awkward.
Jocko Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Dev's, please give us this OPTION. This is one of the things I miss most from other sims. It is so much easier to just move your head a few inches to look around than by taking your hand off the stick or throttle to use the mouse. Using the hat switch in my opinion is equally awkward.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 What's nowrong even more odd, in the new although f2 camera views, you cam control looking up and down with tir, but not left or right.... I'll never understand.

71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 In BoS? Yes, If selecting the Alt f2 cams (new in latest patch) you can change the angle of the camera up and down with Track ir, but side to side is controlled by the mouse. If track IR is disabled, the Mouse controls all movement, but if track IR is enabled than the mouse WILL NOT control up and down, only side to side. I've been looking for some kind of parameter that enables the control for this, but to no avail. I have found the ability to change the position of said Alt f2 cams and that has provided some fun for the past few evenings 2

Did you ever find a workaround for this?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I hate that default setting in Clod.
Jocko Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Almost every other sim in existence has this ability. I find fumbling around with the hat switch or taking my hand off the stick to use the mouse to look around in external view to be awkward to say the least. Hopefully they will give us this option soon.
