Are Unlocks Now Permanent?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered before... but there is still some conflicting opinion on this.

Can we please get an official confirmation on whether or not this will be reset on release?

Posted (edited)

No, they will be reset upon release.

There was a thread in the Russian forums where the developers essentially said that to ensure everyone starts on the same page, unlocks will be reset.

Good news, so everyone starts with a clean slate but, of course, those with EA experience have just that - plenty of flying time in their pocket. All's fair in love and war!

I hope that at least the flight log and rewards or medals will be keeped. :-)

Awesome.

So I won't waste my time unlocking things.

Hopefully the Eagle's Nest comes back soon, because right now things are about 10% as compelling to play as they were before this update.

I suppose they said that we are "testers" fair enough, but could we not then for beign "testers" keep the unlocks we get now? instead of having to "test" the campagin, only to play it all over again? Please devs, myself, and im sure a few other guys, would pefer if we could keep our progress.

I see their point since it is only two months down the road, but Not sure if this is super fair. Imagine what would happen if WT reset all your progress after an official release 3 years after beta started and an official release came out...how would that be received by the player base?

WT is actually released, sorta. They quietly removed all "Beta" and "in development" banners from their site a few weeks ago.

Guys this is early access - the sim is not released yet.

This is hardly comparable.

They're certainly not shying away from confrontation on this, are they?

lol I wont unlock anything. If the Nest does come back it would be great as they were the only ones trying to get a dynamic on line campaign going. I offered my server as host if needed. Free of course.

It's early access that is available to everyone, without restriction.

We aren't some lucky group of closed beta testers.

Wiping our progress is a retarded idea.

Stat/unlock wipes are a part of testing, the best thing to do is to not get attached to any of it until there's official word there won't be any more.

Lol, I am not getting attached to it at all, I am simply not playing it any more.

Strange, I thought we were Early Access Players, could have sworn they had their own selected group of official testers...

Just figured, that one can play online as usual (Guns are luckily not "locked").

Excellent!! ...as i am not interested in those "little boys big adventure dreams" pseudo-geek realism arcade "campaigns" anyways.

If i want to fly a serious campaign! with depth and intelligence i play Falcon BMS instead.

They have no contract with their testers ... look at how many with the Testers icon either have no idea what's happening or are openly critical of the recent announced decisions.

That's not to mention their previous testing team that were unceremoniously disbanded with no real explanation.

So they were in  a way laid off. Harsh

Glad to hear that you may be able to offer something to the community, and hope your resources work out in this capacity.   But have to point out that we (Syndicate) also offer a more historical approach, even have to start your engines...

While our server is in Netherlands it is completely accessible/playable for N.America pilots.  I fly on it from east coast, and others in our squad from across the continent, even Texas...

We had our missions set for engines on because of a bug involving 109's prop pitch when they were set to start with engines off.

Other than the lack of a summer map, the dynamic campaign we had in the works followed various historical scenarios. I'll be in touch with Syndicate server admins to possibly work on continuing our efforts sooner rather than later.

Seriously does anyone think that early access is early access any more?  If everyone can do it really it is release but only with limited capability.  So you are buying a game with the understanding that the capabilities are limited and will change over time but really is there any reason to can peoples unlocks.  Is there suddenly going to be an influx of people buying this game because it is released.  I just don't think the science is there.  The reviews are out there.  If a person wanted it they would have it by now I am sure.  It seems the majority will bow to the minority in this circumstance however.

The problem isn't that your server is good. The problem is that it was one of only 2 good servers, and I can say honestly I've never been able to connect to it (always seems full). Now the other server was taken down, so it'll be worse. Like many, I don't care about single player. I care even less about it now since I'm having to play it to get LA-5 unlocks, and I'm finding out it's like 1 quick battle after another with a loose framework tying it together. I didn't expect falcon 4, but this just isn't fun, and having to world of tanks/war thunder it is worse. What is with russian game design where they love this so much? Everything was good before online where it was under the server admin's control.

Yes historical approach, meaning you leave out the Fw-190.  What a waste if you ask me. (atleast that is the situation on the server you had on a few hours ago, cant say for the future ofc) Honestly i think its a waste to leave out any airplane in the sim, since theres not alot to choose from, might aswell put whats available out there.  I really liked the old server missions, best out there IMO, the one you had today really killed it tho, quite a downgrade i think.   Might just be my openion tho, and im still thankfull that you try to make dynamic campaings! While I like the syndicate  and have flown on many missions and many maps, I liked the idea of where the SE guys were going with the dynamic on line stuff.  Both the SYN or SE servers are and or were great. I will have to spend a little more time in the SYN server, but stock load outs because I cant find kid around my house to grind for weapons yet! :)  Oh come on, its a joke guys. sort of.

Pretty sure that will be far more valuable than any gun pod or skin you can unlock :)

Yeah, Im also struggling wih finding that neighbor kid. But on the other hand Im not sure paying a strangers kid 5$ per hour to play a video game in my mancave would be such a good idea, I could easely get accused for being a nasty phedophile with bad intentions, tricking those kids into my basement for my own amusement

As an exec squad member, we'll all look forward to hearing any proposals until you can re-establish (cross fingers and KoW for that).  We do need to pull together as a community.  S!

The devs want us, need us to test the campaign for bugs, but then reset everything that we earn during that time.  That just seems like a slap in the face.  I have stopped "testing" already.  What's the point.  I helped the devs by giving them 90 dollars up front.  Running through the campaign with no reward is not my cup of tea.

Posted

We were told by them, on multiple occasions, we are not testers - we are Early Access, and if we wanted to share any info on perceived bugs we certainly could, but they had their own group of testers.

All of this is nothing new, and that's the nature of getting a game in the early access stage. This isn't the first time things have been reset. Either you have to accept that things like this are going to happen at this stage of development, or you just need to wait until the time the game is declared to be Gold and released.

That, and I think a whole bunch of people here have a confused idea of what "Early Access" actually means.

you just need to wait

Well then put me in the wait line.  There's a lot of people in my line.

Only a few in your line.

May take them longer to find all the bugs this way.

Something else to add. . .

I was involved in the closed beta for MechWarrior Online.  So I know a small amount about these things.  Yes everything was reset at release in MWO, and I lost all the mechs that I had earned.  But the devs over there showed appreciation for our time spent playing their game.  All the xp and money that I had earned during that time period was returned to my account, and I was able to buy back everything that was wiped.  So you see I didn't waist my time in MWO, it was returned to me.

So I ask, where is the appreciation here?

Posted

You get to play the game before its official release.

And through testing and submitting bug reports you actively partake in the creation of a flightsim.

If that's not enough incentive to play the game (and earn unlocks) you should have waited for the official release.
