Are the playable planes the only ones in game, including AI?

Are there any other planes in the game other than the playable ones? eg transports or anything else for that matter.  I dont need more flyables. Im just wandering about more AI planes.

No, they aren't and none is annouced

It's the general policy of the devs to only make planes that are meant to be flyable.

Most of us are expecting more planes, maps, campaigns etc. To be made after release, but so far nothing is confirmed and all we have to go by is what was promised for the release, and which the devs have delivered on.

nothing apart from what we have now, but devs already gave a blink when people talked about a flyable Ju-52

so if release goes as planned, we can dream to have Die Tante Ju, and maybe another Russian transport

They gave even more of a wink, when the talk was about the I-16, so my hopes are high :)

However, all of this is nothing but speculation. Nothing is confirmed, and we'll still have to see, how the launch goes. If BoS isn't much of a seller, we might get nothing at all, so get out there and promote BoS anyway you can.

oh be sure i did hahahah, i made most of my squad mates buy it, and i think it should go on wheels, as till now devs always were honest towards the community and delivered all in time, at least one more set of planes and map should be here before we even notice it

No, the AIs use the same flight physics / model as flyables, so once they do AI plane there is no excuse not to turn it into flyable.

I think it is actually the opposite. They make flyable planes and then give it over to the AI.

A plane that is only AI can be modeled in MUCH less detail - so there is plenty of 'excuse' to make an AI only aircraft, many of which

we had in the old IL2 for exactly the reason I just pointed out.

So far in this new iteration of IL2 what Murf said holds true.

And in IL-2 it wasn't long before people started using workarounds to make AI-only aircraft flyable. Complete with bogus FMs and DMs. If BoS is to be taken serious as a sim in this day and age, I think we best avoid this.

I think, if we can get some good longevity out of this sim, a couple of hangars worth of AI aircraft would be welcome down the road for campaigners. For now I see the wisdom in flyables only.

That is not the case in BoS.  The FM requires significantly more effort to develop than the cockpit, so it does not make economic sense to produce AI-only aircraft.

Caution: Another "in RoF..."

I actually thought the RoF model was a good idea.  It sure as hell sold me a lot more planes.  Being able to fly the planes you purchased, while having all the others available for the AI.  End result is I sit there and watch the "cool" new planes that the AI is flying (or shooting me down).  Next thing I know, I'm ordering the plane.  I know the business model is supposed to be different, but I think RoF nailed it.  Getting to shoot down, watch, and witness planes I didn't own was a huge part of me buying them.

Personally I'd be fine with AI only planes, particularly if they were cargo etc.  As much as I'd love to fly them, I would have zero qualms about additional content.

Look at Rof it started with only 4 planes and now it has 35 all flyable, so i rather wait and have top notch modeled planes than just have dummy AI planes

I'm good with it however it goes down.

I think its fair to want more AI planes at potential targets. LIke Ju88 Me110 Russian bombers etc.

At the moment IM happy enough . Its Stalingrad and it is what it is. I expect as we get another area. Kuban or whatever. We'll get more planes. I do pine a little for my beloved LA 5fn . lol.

Personally Id prefer to have the planes regulated more than in FB. Personally I didn't like the moded planes. Id rather have the game locked . Like it was in the original Il2

I'd love to see some exotics as statics/ground targets in the revetments, as long as they break convincingly (the original He111 statics were awful in this respect) but can wait for any type of AI stuff. I'm good if they only produce flyables for me to fight. Finding and attacking easter eggs would make ground attack way more interesting for me.
