3instein Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Does anyone know what, if anything, will be used to keep track of any pilot stats? I am not so interested in MP stats as such as I am mostly SP driven, but is there any plans for some kind of pilots logbook or similar?. Even though it is mainly SP I fly, I sometimes venture over to MP and to have a pilots logbook that keeps track of my character with stats for any missions flown whether online or not, would have to be included IMO. Surely there is going to be something like this eh? I mean this has to be a basic requirement nowadays with this kind of PC game,as most if not all new games have some kind of statistic collection whether as a nice pilots logbook or just a page with your total stats on. Has there been any information on this been mentioned anywhere? Cheers, Mick.
SCG_Neun Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I agree with you on this one...but I think it's going to more than likely come from a third party with some talent for creating something...like the old IL-2 Stab Log Book. I've plans for my own personal approach on this when I have time to do some more single player missions on COD using the Desastersoft missions and then of course whenever I can invent something using whatever IL-2 BOS brings to the table in the form of single player missions. I think the latter is going to require some tweaking to come up with a squadron affiliation and such....But we shall see....
Elbows Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I've always thought it'd be cool to have a small journal option...letting you "scribble (type)" some notes (kills, etc.) after each mission.
Voidhunger Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I think there will be only statistic of how many planes and ground targets you have destroyed. But if you want to know what type of planes, when or where, you have to write it down manualy
Uther Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I would like a logbook. I have never understood why ANY flight sim hasn't had such a simple utlity that is EXTREMELY important to real pilots. Something you could keep notes in, type of plane flown, duration of flight, etc. I think Their Finest Hour: Battle of Britain at least kept flights, aircraft type, and victories.
SCG_Neun Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) This might help give you some ideas for BOS, but it's designed for BOB currently. Author is Recon. http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php/downloads/viewdownload/18-gaming-utils/148-luftwaffe-dynamic-pilot-career-tracker Edited October 2, 2014 by JagdNeun
dave9810 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I would like to see something similar to the campaign in RoF. Air kills/ground kills/ total flight time 1
Endy Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I would like to see something similar to the campaign in RoF. Air kills/ground kills/ total flight time Me too.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) its coming.. I do know this is coming. Edited October 2, 2014 by 71st_Mastiff
Pteradon Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I have never understood why ANY flight sim hasn't had such a simple utlity that is EXTREMELY important to real pilots. What about DCS A10? If i remember it correctly, there was a logbook in it.
Elbows Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 A couple years ago I contacted Mark Styling (who does customized graphical prints of aircraft) to produce a large reproduction piece of an F-4 my father used to fly. We actually used by father's old log-books to get the serial, BuNo, etc. Came in rather handy. And, yes, the print came out fantastic.
actionjoe Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) I have never understood why ANY flight sim hasn't had such a simple utlity that is EXTREMELY important to real pilots. Wings Over Flanders Fields does it pretty well, you have details for each flight, each claim (with your description of the fight, if you decide to write it) and every event in the Squadron life. Elbows Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 That would be really cool...and a bit depressing. I can see myself with a huge stack of deceased pilots. There was a fun competition on the RoF forum to see who could live the longest in an actual WW1 career with full realism. I'm not sure what the record was.
3instein Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 Hope that some good soul or even the devs are working on something like this, it is sorely missing for this game. Mick.
voncrapenhauser Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 There was a really old PS1 flight game had a detailed Log book, The game was crap as a sim but was a great feature so It can be done.
danjama Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I've always thought it was ridiculous that this never existed in IL2 and it's ridiculous that it doesn't exist now. Even simple stats or a log that you update manually would be useful.
Y-29.Silky Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I've been brainstorming on how to create software for this. Here's a real pilot logbook from the Battle of Britain:There can be a separate logbook for each type (Fighter, Bomber, Transport). A fighter logbook would probably look something like above since they won't be able to jot down during flight, but for bombers and transports, something like.. Date - Time: 1-5-2014 (or 1942, what have you), 1700 Aircraft: Ju-87 D-3 Payload: 1000kg Mission: Ground Strike Target: Beketovka Supply Depot Pilot: Haupt. Schmidt Passengers: Gunner - Gefr: Färber Flight(heading, grid, altitude, observations):- 030 at 386-8, Alt: 2000 (065 if you use ft), Obv: 2 visuals distant NE- 090 at 438-7, Alt: 4000 (131), Obv: Engagements to the N etc, etc Engagements: Light AAA at Beketovka Air Kills: N/A Ground Kills: 8 Buildings Damage: Slight damage to fuselage, port side horizontal stabilizer missing. Casualties: Gefr: Färber - KIA (or whoever may be your gunner in multiplayer) Probably too much detail, but this is only off the top of my head... Edited January 5, 2015 by Silky
II./JG27_Rich Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) I was talking about this before the game came out. Buy a nice binded journal book and write what you like in it and keep it. You'll get a kick out of it when you're 90-100. Your relations will find it and say "He really has gone round the bend hasn't he" Edited January 6, 2015 by II./JG27_Rich
Strider Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 ~S, M8's. Suggestion. Go to your local flying school and purchase an actual Pilot's Log Book. Or get one online. ~S! Strider
