Herne Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I recently bought IL2 BOS, and due to screen res problems now resolved, I've only just managed to have a quick flirt with the game last night. Joined an expert multiplayer server, as I am keen to learn how to fly these planes, trying to get it right from the start so that I don't get lazy or pick up bad habits playing on normal difficulty. I realise I have so much to learn, some questions I had, have been answered in other posts, but one thing I don't really understand very well is prop pitch. When to increase it when to decrease it etc. Could someone explain the basics of prop pitch management to me ? It would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

-805-DNA-Decay Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 It's like gears in a car. The coarser the pitch, the higher the gear. You use coarse pitch to go faster, but you need to be fast to use it. Just like gears in a car. You don't start a car in fifth gear, but you need to be in fifth gear to get as fast as the car can go. You start the plane in fine pitch, but when you have some airspeed under you, you can get more coarse. Also, you wouldn't climb a hill in fifth gear in a car. When you are climbing in the plane, you would expect to go more fine with the pitch.
hasseb432 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 vallance, you must assign a key to 'padlock nearest enemy' ( or something similar to that) and make sure you check the box for 'padlock' in custom settings.
