reddog=11blueleader* Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Will the pre order come as a download from the company or some other form of download? I am getting ready to Pre Order. Looks like a fantastic WWll flight sim. I am also a ROF flier. 1
reddog=11blueleader* Posted August 21, 2013 Author Posted August 21, 2013 Thanks Farber for the info.
eklund Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 It shall be D2d, direct to drive... Do you have a source? Thanks for the info!
VeryOldMan Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 It shall be D2d, direct to drive... a ff that would be a HUGE let down.. Direct 2 drive never worked ok here. I buy a game on steam and it downlaods at 2 MBytes per second. Buy a game to download in direct to drive and NEVER get anythign over 5 KBytes per second. Taht likely will make me not buy the game that I wanted so much. Basically the worse distribution system I have ever used. 1
LG1.Farber Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Sorry I never heard of this other steam like platform, it was my understanding that D2D meant direct to drive, as in, downloaded to your drive... Not some third party provider. I guess they trade marked a phrase there. Edited August 23, 2013 by 5./JG27Farber
VeryOldMan Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Lol ok. There is a steam likr service called D2D, yes direct to drive and its horrible Better this way... woudl be a disapointment to be forced to use it.
LG1.Farber Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) I was expecting Direct from you guys, we clod host-ers and players have had bad experience with steam dependency to play the game, especially lately, with is kicking both players and hosts. To have to navigate your online DRM / validity check and then steam also seems like an unnecessary hurdle to me. One hurdle is ok but why make life harder? I like steam, dont get me wrong, most of my games are on steam... I just wanna fly the game I paid for when I want, not around the maintenance schedule of Steam and 1c777. sop Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Steam makes most sense from a marketing perspective, wider audience plus all competition use it,(aka war thunder atm) I heard rof was/is coming to steam but not seen yet, any update on that? Edited August 23, 2013 by sop 1
DrJester Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I'm also, still saving, to buy the premium edition and I totally agree with "sop". Steam would be, indeed, the ideal platform. Because that way, I don't have to be in that awkward position of having to...ermm borrow an international credit card from a friend(I miss the UK so much *goes into a corner and cries in a fetal position* ), since it allows, now, national Credit cards and other forms of payments(I live in a hellhole, don't ask *cries some more*)
dburne Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I don't mind it being offered on Steam, guess that could be considered ideal as it is a wide audience, just also offer it without using Steam, like ROF. Long as they do that, I am happy. 2

VeryOldMan Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The advantage of steam is that they already handled all the problems that selling on several countries have. REcently (like last 4 years) I simply do not even consider buying a game unless its on steam, because otherwise its ALWAYS a massive hurdle to do so. 1
Jaws2002 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) Steam is good because you never lose your games with them and it's easy to keep in touch with friends and squaddies. Edited August 26, 2013 by Jaws2002
NastyDog Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) Steam is good because you never lose your games with them and it's easy to keep in touch with friends and squaddies. I like steam more fore there automatic patch updating of games Edited August 26, 2013 by NastyDog 1
VeryOldMan Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I like steam more fore there automatic patch updating of games That as well. Also they sell games cheaper here, because if i need to buy from a foreign place I am forced to pay 60% taxes later . Since steam has a national representation here, I pay only the game price to them
