Bussard_x Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I see a lot of turn fighting performed by the AI. It seems that all aircraft make the same manouvres, including the bombers. It would be nice to see different behaviour for "energy fighters", "turn fighters", ground attack planes and (dive) bombers. Especially the Russian fighters have a big advantage with the turn tactics, 109s and 190s get their ass kicked by LaGGs in the turn and burn.
Potenz Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 AI is a placeholder now, so yes, AI is using the same tactics for all planes, despite it's type or nation. it's suppose to be upgraded at release

Mikey Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 -Im quite sure they have been improved compared to a couple of weeks ago. -since last update i played a few quick battles with ai and noticed right away that he-111 was not flying like an extra-300 anymore. -pe-2 and stuka are not turn fighting either they will make evasive maneuvers but will not engage in turn fight. at least from the hour i tested... they seem alot better 1
LLv24_Zami Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I have noticed too that bomber AI fly much better now. But Fw-190 AI gets shot down every time in qmb dogfights, they are not doing very well.

malcheus Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 They (at least the FW190) seem to have the RoF mindset that makes them go roundabout once they are at a very low altitude; very good for practicing lead angles in a turn fight, but not much of a challenge.
Karost Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) I test shoot AI - Yak 1 last 4 days ago with BF109F4 and G2 at 2000 meters. AI Yak-1 veteran look good by using Turning Tactic with very good to manage corner speed I cannot use BF109 turn with this yak-1 in horizontal so I have to use B&Z to nail it down. AI Yak-1 Ace surprise me it use Energy Tactic!, with using trim stabilizer nose down BF-109 Energy state is look upper hand so it is not difficult to take AI Yak-1 Ace down , but I found one thing wrong in this Yak-1 Ace AI if I drag this AI to the low level ( below 500 meter ) when fly separate this AI hit the ground with no reason. It happened in the same way two time by I did not made any shoot. one trick to avoid head on with AI , when the game start your plane stay in mode AI-level on just keep that way keep your gun sight point above AI dot about 2 or 1.5 click and use machine gun shoot at long range that will made AI not making head on shoot to you. 39bn_pavig Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) It is not worth arguing about if the AI is either a WIP or a placeholder, as AI is complex and will require tuning down the track. It won't be until we have SP content in the hands of all players before AI limitations are better understood and able to be tweaked to work best. Though the quick mission maker can give us some indication of AI behavior it does not encompass the breadth of situations in which we will meet the AI, where they may have other things to think about such as waypoints, friendly AI and ground forces, and their own missions which we will stumble across in the course of our campaign. Then we will see some more (seemingly) intelligent behavior. We will also see more how convincing they are at emulating a real human player. Edited September 27, 2014 by 39bn_pavig 1

Dakpilot Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 FACT; Dev diary 80 Zak: Other changes include only interface and AI improvements It has been mentioned many times in many dev diaries that AI is a work in progress and will be updated up to and after release..call me a liar but I am not going to search through eighty dev diaries and comments as well as 41 early access Topics and comments on English AND Russian forums, notwithstanding that you cannot search for AI because less that "word" is less than 3 letters This seems a very pedantic argument LoL When an 8 vs 8 fighter vs bomber mission can be set up in qmb and all left to autopilot and the results look "real world believable" then AI will be at least a leap in the right direction Cheers Dakpilot
SCG_Neun Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I like my "pedantic" with just a twist of lime..... 1
