=MERCS=Admiral* Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Hello fellow sim pilots. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself before making efforts to learn and ultimately confidently succeed in this game. I have been playing flight simulation since 1998. It has taken some time to learn proper energy management and ACM team tactics. I have only truly played two different simulations, one was over 10 years and after learning my last one know it was a kiddie type simulation. The last simulator, which i've played for just over a year, has opened my eyes and introduced me to a more mature form of simulation. However, I've become quite dominant in all areas of that game as I did in the previous and feel that I'm ready for more of a challenge. There were two games I've been recommended to look into; (IL2 and DCS). I've downloaded DCS, but wanted to take a quick crack at IL2 first. This game truly looks promising and look forward to being the Noob of the week, while meeting new friends. I am very much a tactical type of pilot who strives for the energy advantage prior to engagement. If I am at a disadvantage, I will work to regain the advantage with proper ACM. In team play situations, I feel you aren't much use if you separate to hot-rod yourself to get a kill or by getting shot up in unwise situations (head to head, bomber ai, etc..). IMHO, it is very important to understand when it's time to dis-engage as the advantage slips to reset/regroup and re-engage. My team tactic objectives are pretty simple; If you walk away with the same amount of pilots you started with, you've succeeded. I am not much of a stat queen, but more so look at areas you can improve as a team and as a pilot. I look forward to learning the flight models, aircraft characteristics, game physics and my nemesis for many years (my aim). The reason I've posted on these forums is in hope to find a group of US pilots who have the same look at combat simulation as I do. I do warn you, that I may be a pest at first by asking noobish type questions, but hope to become an asset versus a crutch. Thanks for reading my introduction and will see you in the skies. =s= Admiral_
=MERCS=Admiral* Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Well look at what the cat dragged in, hehe. Great to see you here Pand! Can you use a wingman? =s= Admiral_
[TWB]Pand Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Always dude, I'll PM you our Mumble server address. We fly almost every day ... prime time eastern hours! <S> 1
=MERCS=Admiral* Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Excellent sir! What would you consider the time needed to learn this game before things return to how we were in our previous?
[TWB]Pand Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Excellent sir! What would you consider the time needed to learn this game before things return to how we were in our previous? If you have been flying sims for a reasonable length of time, and have your axis/buttons bound appropriately, it won't take you long at all. Feel free to join and ask any questions to the team, I promise we'll keep the laughs to a minimum! 1
