71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 when i rided a motorbike to looked back i looked down( since i was leaned) rather than using the mirrors i had a helmet on which restricted quite much the view and still i hardly turned my head to do so also check out the lateral design of wwii goolgles https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQRXiVhKznHdwcaaUrvsSeGuj2BMbzY3y-tEmrlzpf5T8LLqnbZ personally i dislike this new tech and i would be disapointed if i spent a fortune on it just to discover afterwards i cant look back cause my eyes are fixed like an owls Then I would try it before I bought it if I were you.

=LD=Hethwill Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the snippets Manu. I honestly hope each plane to be as close to what they were, aerodynamically, as it is possible in a computer code way. Favourite thing is to learn each aircraft in both its deficiencies and strengths against opponents. Edited August 24, 2013 by =LD=Hethwill
322Sqn_Dusty Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 [...]. I honestly hope each plane to be as close to what they were, aerodynamically, as it is possible in a computer code way. Favourite thing is to learn each aircraft in both its deficiencies and strengths against opponents. The thing that stood out the most for me is the different ways the airplanes reacted. The planes behave totally different on stalling For those who think it's arcade..forget it. The Lagg and 109 need different ways of pulling out of a stall., Jason and Loft explained some of the math models these builts have. e.g. Pull out too late and the airplanes will act accordingly...and that is nasty
TheBlackPenguin Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Looking great! The map reminded of ROF's, when you set the difficulty level you don't have any navigation aids and need to use landmarks in the terrain to figure out where you are and where to go. I wonder there will be any penalties if you land at the wrong friendly airbase?

1CGS LukeFF Posted August 25, 2013 1CGS Posted August 25, 2013 Wowsers, the armoured canopy REALLY restricts the view sideways! - And there is a big improvement when the canopy is opened. I hope the penalties for flying with an open canopy will be sufficiently big to discourage it, even with the viewing field advantage. I imagine reduced speed, roaring wind noise and lessened protection of the pilot would be factors that could discourage a-historical open-canopy flying. I get the feeling the mod for the Bf 109 that allows some of the headrest armor to be removed will be a popular one. I found that when looking upwards, that big hunk of steel really restricted my view. Removing it allows a much better field of view, albeit at the cost of reduced protection.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQRXiVhKznHdwcaaUrvsSeGuj2BMbzY3y-tEmrlzpf5T8LLqnbZ I actually own a pair (repro, not originals), and they are actually quite restricting. Even without them, I have to turn my head 130 degrees or so to look behind me, perhaps you have better peripheral vision than me. Edited August 25, 2013 by 79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer
Pupo Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 anyone noticed the speed drop of 20 km/h in the il-2 video, when the cockpit was opened?
Foobar Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 anyone noticed the speed drop of 20 km/h in the il-2 video, when the cockpit was opened? Of course
Sgt_Joch Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 The Lagg-3 with the M105PF engine was the later version of of the 1942 model and was pretty much standard from nov.42 forward. The M105PF was, as I recall, only 100 hp more powerful than the previous version, but the airplane was also a bit lighter than previous version which gave it better overall performance. STAVKA built up an inventory of 200-300 in the fall specifically so they could be used in the november 1942 offensive. ...so, nothing to see here...
Wind Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Looking bloody good. Gotta preorder the game tomorrow... That map is pure placeholder as with everything related to GUI and effects. Jason Well, even if it is a placeholder, it is looking mighty good. Actually I was like Freycinett :" damn, that is a nice touch!" Personally I think the game is looking good. And by looking, I dont only mean "looking" good. Devs seem to have the eyes the ball with all the important aspects, flight characteristics and solid base engine. If you have a good foundation in your proverbial house, it is easy to build upon it in the later patches//updates//addons. And the project management seems to be awake at the wheel as well! Good , timely, updates (especially the video one was dandy) and straightforward communication with the community. Carry on carrying on gents!

Here's a nice documentary on ww2 Katyusha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVZj6NgfPLE And a nice one on Grad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz6QYE5bwzI Both with English subtitles. There's a lot of good stuff in this two series of documentaries. Edited August 25, 2013 by Jaws2002 1

Bussard_x Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Another movie: http://322squadron.com/Gamescom/Smurf/00014.MTS Dusty what video format is that? It freezes my tablet.
Bussard_x Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hope someone uploads it on youtube. Dusty waren er meer nl`ers in Keulen bij Jason? Wilde ook gaan maar kon niet.
Uufflakke Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Tried to convert the .mts file into something readable but did not succeed in doing so. @Benz: Let's hope for a YT upload. I was in Germany last week (Münich) but it is a bit too far away from Köln to take a visit.
322Sqn_Dusty Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Won’t take long before it’s yt added. @Benz Geen idee, niet tijdens mijn bezoek op donderdag. Zijn er toen bijna 3 uur geweest.

71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 HEy Dusty, I know its expensive but Sony Vegas converts MTS files with ease.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I sure don't have MTS I bet hes the only one out of 1,000 using it?
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 MTS is a file format usually coming from he video.
322Sqn_Dusty Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) No problems with Win7, MTS is indeed a codec used for HD with Sony and Panasonic. I bet that others convert them to a more compact version like mp4. Or the OS converts it to the awful avi. Edited August 27, 2013 by 322Sqn_Dusty
Foobar Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Dusty, with your permission I would like to try to upload it to YT.
Zmaj76 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) I sure don't have MTS I bet hes the only one out of 1,000 using it? Its a codec most Panasonic and Sony camera using.....you can play MTS in VLC no probs. Edited August 27, 2013 by Tvrdi
322Sqn_Dusty Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Foobar, No problem. Manu hasn't been online yet, so if it's uniform format like that, i'm just cheering to it.
