How "die hard" are you?

Honestly I never slept as well as on diesel ships. This might do the job.

That sort of drones on like me.  No wonder my wife sleeps soundly.  You wouldn't be sleeping though if it was as loud as the real thing.

Crank up the volume about 500% and you have the sound that the crews actually worked in for up to 10 hours at a time.

Had plenty of experience of four P&W's for eight hours plus..although I love that sound it can get a very little bit tiring! Although some turbine types are even louder and can lead to permanent hearing damage, to the point you are restricted to 60 hours max per 30 days

Anyone listen to the full eight hours? If a squadron of Me109's attacks at about 4 hours and 39 minutes and the gunners open up, you'll never sleep again! ;)

My sister worked at the glass factory for years. Very loud work area. She had to buy a big floor fans and turn it up full blast every night to fall alseep. The quiet at home was like a constant loud noise she said.

i like to sleep with the tictac of the clock, apparently it calms people down cause it reminds of your mom heartbeat while in the womb

i wouldnt mind to live my live over again so i enjoy the tictac

Really? I can't stand a tic tac noise while trying to sleep, it just gets on my nerves...

the fan sounds aren't bad, they're pretty low frequency. tic tacs are terrible because of the high pitch. i use digital clocks for this reason

I use a fan or other sounds like this as well to keep me asleep as cockroaches run around and Window Unit compressor turns on and off

The scariest "sound" on ship that surely will get you to sit up straight, wide awake, in bed is a sudden and complete silence.

Silence and the absence of vibrations tells you that something has gone terrible wrong, probably a complete blackout.

Better get to the bridge on the double.

Not really, but if you have experienced a storm before you appreciates the "calm" before a new one hits you.

I won't lie; I've imagined myself flyin' Grasshoppers in Korea when I take a 150 up during the winter.

WOW!!!!  I thought I was the only one who used a fan to fall asleep. Thanks for that video I will use it!

Quick Navy story:

This has happened to me because when I was on the USS Eisenhower CVN-69 in 1994-95, aircraft turned at night for maintenance runs. The gentle rocking of the ship and that low hum above me put me to sleep like a baby. From that day fourth I cannot sleep without a fan on.
