Ligator_swLigator_swe Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The game has one big problem. The learning curve is too steep. This is something you easily could do something about by introducing a series of tutorial missions where you explain how to take off and land and such.
pilotpierre Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 They are all here They can all be be found under the username RequiemBoS at www.youtube.com/requiembos.
Mmaruda Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Actually the OP is right. It's the developers job to deliver tools that will teach their customer to play the game. Relying on Requiem to do the job is not really a good approach. A set of tutorial missions, aka interactive tutorials is really needed, as it allows learning by doing, which is the most effective way. As for Youtube tutorials, Requiem's stuff is almost the only thing out there, and I can understand if it's not helpful for someone. With all the respect for Requiem - the way he speaks makes me tired. I have never manage to remember anything from his videos because of that.
kestrel79 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I agree, this is a must once the game goes final. RoF and DCS both have great tutorial missions that teach you how to fly and make it fun. I have faith 777 will get it right but this is where the older IL2s always failed their tutorials were awful and not very interactive or fun.
13Nrv Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 jump in a squad and use TS ! for sure the very best way to succeed !

Not that i'm ready to go over to Requiems house and clean out his gutters or anything but I think Requiems Tutorials are extremely well made and I'm hard pressed to imagine how they could be improved, including his voice. In post after post on this and other forums folks are advised to watch his videos, and most manage to learn something.

No offence taken Mmaruda Believe me, I get it, imagine how I must feel having to listen to myself to make sure things are correct Not everything works for everyone so no worries (it's why I include the text highlights and not just me jabbering away). I might ask my wife to narrate one or something I wouldn't say the devs are relying on me though as I do them off my own back and spare time. It's more like filling the gap to help out, but I haven't even been able to make the videos I've wanted to since BoS was released for early access. I agree with you though that interactive tutorials are really the way to go. I am a big fan of the way DCS handles them...They show you the basics to let you get started and anything further is on you. Monkey see monkey do is the best way to learn.
I do not understand that one can denigrate the work of Requiem. I, who do not speak English, I am completely satisfied with the way its done these tutorials whatsoever in Rise of Flight or Battle of Stalingrad. It allows anyone to learn or understand the basics of what the various flight simulations. Nobody has to do this legal to work (whether in time or involvement despite its reviews;)). Also you will notice that most of the information coming from various tutorials are working. Thank you for your compréhesion.

Personally I think he has the perfect voice for an instructor - slow, clear, precise and good diction. We are extremely fortunate to have people of his ilk who are prepared to devote their time and efforts to the benefit of everyone. Edited September 20, 2014 by pilotpierre
