Do we have a Luftwaffe pilot yet?

I saw the Russian pilot and he looks fantastic so I was wondering if we have a screenshot of a Luftwaffe pilot yet?

Posted

I'm much more interested in seeing the 109 in the next livestream, but hopefully we'll get to see the pilot too.

Probably I've missed something as usual. Is a next livstream already announced? Is the whole thing going to be a regular habit?

Yeah, pretty sure they said there's more coming. Now I can't for the life of me remember where.

We haven't announced the next stream yet, but it will happen for sure. And you can count on us to show Bf.109.

German fighter pilot has been added to the game thou I'm not sure we've ever shown it to you. I'll fix that ;)

IIRC didn't I see a female pilot as well?

That is what I enjoy the most about this development team, very interactive and responsive to the community. Everything we simmers might want BoS to be might not come to pass, but I think it's going to be better than most of us ever hoped for when it was announced.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Please.

I'd love to see all women squadrons appear in campaign.

No really, to me pilot models are a very low priority.  ;)

We had a glimpse of the LW pilot, in one of those videos from  the US event showing the bailout sequence:

He seems to be wearing the two piece KW 41 (fleece) flying suit and an Lkp W 101 helmet,

If I'm not terribly wrong...

I also remember to have seen a female pilot model. Quite a while ago actually.

I couldn't find it anymore on the web but read somewhere on a forum that it was a photoshopped version of the existing 3D model.

Well, if they can shop a female model I can give it a try also.

Very cool. I like the texture on the wool pants.

Awesome. Very realistic. I may have missed it, but will they do hand jesters too? Pretty common use with Luftwaffe pilots.

It seems like the gestures from RoF will make an appearance, and as you can see in the livestream, we'll get the flare guns too, which are a good deal more important (Don't get me wrong, hand gestures are awesome. They're just hard to see in the age of enclosed cockpits)

I want a monocle!

Relax, at least he's got that stern look in his eyes that all German soldiers apparently have according to hollywood

Savor it, it's one of the few remaining ethnic stereotypes, that are perfectly permissable.

Ahhhhh, but I am sure he comes back from a mission and demands that his bath be drawn and his cognac ready......while Wagner plays in the background. ;)

Totally adds to the game. This is what seperates games like RoF and BoS from all other flight Sims! :)

I like it, but why is he so angry?

Because he knows my ShVAK has a shell in the chamber with his name on it, and there isn't a thing he can do about it.

I would not be happy if I were to jump into an ice cold cockpit -25-30: D

Look gents, he`s realistically modelled in the position he landed after bailing out, it took two weeks to thaw the poor bugger out hence the fixed expression and arms out.

Will the pilot be visobole in cocpit or only in external viev. Would be cool to have the option to show pilot in cocpit or turn it off.

Pilot looks good, but it would be much better without goggles. Messerschmitt pilots did not used goggles much IRL and when they did, they were the slimmer ones almost every time: http://www.oakleafmilitaria.com/083m1.html

Actually i can't recall seeing any 109 pilot pics with bigger goggles right now.

Might be a little difficult to model.

I  have to agree with DB605...

Except from many little details missing or generalised here and there...

(don't flame me, but I can't help it)  ...

the head gear selected is not at all typical for a fighter pilot in 1942.

The Auer goggles and leather Lkp W 101 combo had been obsolete among figher pilots since 1940!

Still remained in use among bomber crews, though.

The helmet used was the lightweight net Lkp N 101 with the Gunther & Nitsche (anti-splinter) goggles...

:salute:

PS. I hope no excessive mirroring (like in the RoF ones) will be used to skin those...

Wouldn't you be too? He's just been sent to the Russian Front!

He must have pi$$ed someone off really badly!

IIRC I read a book (not sure wich on though) where the pilot of a fighter said he had to put his goggles on while entering the combat area to prevent from the dust sitting on the floor of the cockpit entering his eyes during acrobatics manoeuvers. It in my opinion the main reason why you would put these on in a closed canopy cockpit. and I am not even mentioning shaded goggles, which in good clear weather under a shiny sun would seems appropriate

Just upping this topic, hopefully devs will see posts #33 and #36.

Did you ever hear anything about the reson that 109 pilots didn't use goggles was not only because of vission restrictions but also because it was so tight in the canopy sometimes they would scratch the plexiglass or the lenses by bumping into the side of the canopy. I went and saw the G-10 at the Evergreem museum in Oregon and that was one thing that got to me was how small the canopy looked in person. You have many options as far as the pilot goes with Cliffs Of Dover buts that's another deal completely.
