Yeah he knows the industry so well, he spent 5 years on "Rage" thinking it would revolutionize the gaming industry.

 

Seriously, I'm just kidding around. It was an interesting speech.

Nope.. he  spent  5 years on Rage  KNOWING it   would revolutionize game ENGINES. And it did.. most   new engines are being developed with  the lessons from that Engine . Carmack is not a guy that makes great  games, he makes great game ENGINES!

 

And  you know what  it the genre that can gain the MOST from  the techniques in RAGE?  hin hint..   its not fps that have a huge issue  with   the need of near infinitely large textures.
